@tylermumford oh, yes. Most definitely. One of the good aspects is that all three I mentioned have versions for Linux, Mac, and Windows. So no platform lock-in.
Lemme try to track down some links, as I've given "I've stumbled into this cool tool" jumpstart intro talks on two of them.
@thomastospace I'm really new to this, but I'm using both Onshape and TinkerCAD. Onshape is nice for precision and how my brain thinks by default. TinkerCAD is fun for experimentation and playing. Some serious design, too.
#Stampa3d#3DPrinting#SbagliandoSImpara
in #3dPrinting you need to keep your 3d filament (the ink basically) super dry, because it absorbs water, which makes it brittle and generally fucks with it
a lot of people come up with very expensive or complicated solutions. i just bought a 10EUR back of 1kg re-usable gel silica used to dehydrate car interiors, but it in an airtight-ish ikea box and my humidity reader is struggling to read the humidity because it's too low ✨
@bram@stooovie I’ve stored PLA and TPU like that for 5 years and it preserved perfectly. The TPU I finished printing this week.
This being said, I did invest in a PolyDryer and a few boxes as I’m moving to more difficult-to-handle filaments. Nylon is one that sounds quite bad, but very exciting.
@SebastianM6L I had a spare spool ready to go in case it did run out, but it had 5 wraps to go with 20 minutes left. I had to babysit it while trying to get ready to leave, but I couldn’t leave because I knew it would run out if I did.
... the cover: materialized and in its natural habitat.
The wall socket box was too shallow to hold a breaker, 24V transformer and #Esp32 board with a relay.
Not very aesthetic, but it covers all the door unlocking junk.
Manyfold v0.66.0 has been released! This release focuses on accessibility again, particularly around keyboard control of the 3d models. But, in order to make that happen, we had to do a big rewrite of the renderer that should make it much faster and smoother! We hope you like it 😄
Feeling relatively clear today so thought I'd get a few of the wife's requested prints designed but for some reason #FreeCAD just wouldn't start so went looking for alternatives and stumbled upon #dune3d and OMG what a banging new #CAD tool, it's a very fast core clearly built around keyboard shortcuts but has a lovely context menu you bring up with space and for designing simple parts has absolutely everything I need today. I am very impressed. #3dprinting#design#partdesign
@sp4rkr4t Thank you for mentioning it! I've tried it today too, got many things without watching any tutorials, read all the short and comprehensive documentation, and feel ready to start my own projects now. I like all the complicated stuff FreeCAD can do, but here simple stuff is really simple.
#CGAPrints update: Release Candidate 1? I took some time today to test-print a couple of colours that arrived this week, and they seem pretty close. This is the first time I've compared a full batch against colours on a real screen - what do you think?
All 16 colours are different brands and types of PLA, so given access to the complete palette, basically every printer should be capable of making some form or other of CGA pixel art.
