Am I able to personally block .threads on my .world account? I want nothing to do with meta.

Be it Lemmy, Mastodon, or some other instance on some other service.
Apologies if I missed one that has already been held. But I saw a member census of beehaw, which was really interesting. I'm not suggesting gathering of any personally identifying info, but more generally getting a sense of who is here on kbin.
Personally, this one:...
I’m fairly new and don’t 100% understand it yet, but instances are run on servers that require money. Are we heading towards seeing ads or subscriptions to raise funds instead of relying on donations to cover overhead?...
As per the title. I'm obviously an old Bustard. Somebody please explain Rule to me.
A long while back I was hanging out with one of my sisters and she said that she hears thunder in her head when she gets startled....
I'm sure many new users are curious.
To me, it was the astounding amount of interactivity between the community....
I've noticed in the explosion that we are getting duplicate communities in multiple instances. This is ultimately gonna hinder community growth as eventually communities like 'cats' will exist in hundreds of places all with their own micro groups, and some users will end up subscribing to duplicates in their list....
Im joining in on the reddit ditching thing, and was kinda worried at first that i wouldnt be able to like use it the way i did reddit as it feels like a whole new place, but after engaging with posts and people and actually being a part of lemmy rather than being lurk mode all the time i was pleasantly surprised with how easy it...
I've already started seeing a lot of redundant communities being made here that have already existed on other Lemmy instances, and lemmy.ml is at risk of centralization and overload, so now is a great time to raise awareness of other instances....
When the war started it was seizure-this and sanction-that. I’ve read that $350B in Russian assets were seized and held, while major companies exited the Russian market, the ruble crashed, and inflation rocketed....
Don't miss one, I want to hear it all.
Here are some of mine, see my cross-post’s comments for more...
like I went to taco bell and they didn’t even have napkins out. they had the other stuff just no napkins, I assume because some fucking ghoul noticed people liked taking them for their cars so now we just don’t get napkins! so they can save $100 per quarter rather than provide the barest minimum quality of life features.
Please understandnim asking this question from a genuine place. I dont want the quora answer, i want the tech savvy, security expert minds of my fellow lemmings. If thats ok?...
How do I prevent this? Whenever an article gets popular it gets posted to the news community of every single instance so you have to scroll by it several times a day for a week. Is there a “prevent duplicates” option in any of the clients? I’m pretty close to abandoning lemmy honestly. There’s very little content that...
I do believe the biggest impact would come from regulating large companies and billionaires, but it’s not one or the other.
I see a very small minority of people using Kbin, but I don’t understand why....
I'm working on an activism campaign kicking off next week opposing some bad internet bills in the US -- here's the magazine I just set up. Once things get going, we'll be sharing links there including information and actions people can take....
Just as the title says. Dunno why memes are of interest now (out of the loop) but it’s driving me nuts
Despite being right handed, it feels more comfortable to place my phone in my left front pocket. Maybe because having a wallet in my right pocket predates using mobile phones. What feels most natural for you?
Is it speed? Features? Ease of development? Just curious why lemmy is seeing more activity as opposed to other networks.
Hello everyone! Long time redditor, first time poster to Lemmy.world. As I’m learning more about the Fediverse, I’m seeing there are several instances that seem to serve the same purpose. For example, Lemmy and Beehaw seem to be similar, yet they are still separate....
