Often times when duckduckgoing (is that the right term for that) advice for products, I use the !ddgr key to directly search reddit for advice. But in a post-blackout world, I need to do this a lot less. So I want to know what the best places are to get reviews and advice for products that are human and not top 10 listicals.
Lets make a thread to post our niches that we have found here. Big magazines are ok too....
She’s almost 70, spend all day watching q-anon style of videos (but in Spanish) and every day she’s anguished about something new, last week was asking us to start digging a nuclear shelter because Russia was dropped a nuclear bomb over Ukraine. Before that she was begging us to install reinforced doors because the...
The settings tab in the sidebar allows me to "show top bar" but when I do, aside from the standard-seeming "All", "Subscribed" etc, this top bar lists a bunch of seemingly random mags (NorthVancouver? Telugu?). Is there a way to customize what's up there? Or at least set it to list my subscribed mags? As-is it's a bunch of mags...
I am still working full-time remote. There are definitely some social aspects of going to the office I miss, but I really don't miss the commute or the shitty office politics. Overall I feel I am still more productive from home and happier overall.
When I was on Reddit I felt like my opinion didn’t matter. But here it just feels more open and free.
I prefer regular foods that help with constipation, not meds.
There are a fair number of totally empty magazines created during rexit, with no threads, yet a fair number of subscribers (because the name matches a popular sub from Reddit). I clicked on one this morning, because I saw it in random magazines side bar section. No threads. Created a month ago by a user who hasn't posted a...
I was working as a stockboy in a supermarket and when we had to fill the milk cooler people would bust open a 12 pack of milk cartons and put them in one by one....
A great use for reddit is the ability to search posts and opinions about any niche topic. Will that be possible with Lemmy as it grows? Will I be able to Google "instant rice Lemmy" and get a comprehensive tier list of each brand?...
Personally i'm looking forward to seeing twobestfriendsplay, arkhamasylum, whowouldwin, and respectthreads, on here.
I’ve run across these terms several times, but without enough context to figure out what they mean. Could someone help me out, please?...
I've noticed (with the help of family members and my SO) that I've become very negative, cynical and drained lately. Reading about burnout, I find all of the symptoms to be true for myself....
I've noticed that some comments on threads will have a red, dotted line next to them, almost like it's the color coding for child comments, but it shows up occasionally on a top-level comment which has no parent comment. I've tried looking at the accounts where I see this, but I can't find any patterns for it yet, myself. Any...
Murder cases, freak accidents or articles triggering just good old existential crisis. Give me your worst.
We all either love horror films, or hate horror films. What's that film that kept you up at night? The one that you re-watch all the time? The one that made you groan at 'the big reveal'?...
I know memory is fairly cheap but e.g. there are millions of new videos on youtube everyday, each probably few hundred MBs to few GBs. It all has to take enormous amount of space. Not to mention backups.
On reddit I was a lurker that posted like once or twice a year, but ever since joining lemmy I’ve started posting multiple times a day.
I am looking to expand my list of rss feeds. What are you favorites? I like science, technology, art, history, books, movies, television... but I am open to expanding those interests and learning something new.
I don't mean doctor-making-150k-a-year rich, I mean properly rich with millions to billions of dollars....
Is there any hope? Or is it inevitable that big corporations will take over what started as a way to escape big corporate platforms and to focus on real communities and discussions and replace it with a toxic shithole pumped full of ads?
What is something like a hobby or skill that you belive almost anybody should give a try, and what makes your suggestion so good compared to other things?...
As a former redditor I am glad to have found a new "home" and I hope I'm not intruding. Nevertheless, we are all a huge migration that is bound to change how kbin works and we're bound to piss off some pre-migration Keebinetters. The fact you guys were here before and not in reddit makes evident you don't want this to become a...
Say what you will about reddit, at least an established subreddit was the place to gather on the topic, ie r/technology etc....
