@Iconfactory sounds cool but I’m not quite sure if I will benefit from it? Right now I’m mainly use feedly and Ivory for Social and news… Can we see the app in action?
@afisch Sorry, there's no app yet - that's what the Kickstarter is for! :) But you can check out the UI mockups on the Kickstarter page for an idea of where we want to go with it, and we plan on posting even more details over the coming weeks.
@metaning We want to build native apps for both iOS and macOS. As such, a Mac app would work fine on Intel and not need an iOS emulation mode. That is also why the Mac is a stretch goal.
@Iconfactory Well I am trying to back this but the Kickstarter account creation process is a möbius strip of looping requests for email verification (that is already lapsed) and re-entering account info to only have it now say the email is already in use 😡
@Iconfactory I love this. Is there any chance you’ll have a lifetime option? I’ve got heavy subscription fatigue. (Backed at Linen either way of course!)
@_ Thanks for supporting the project, Dave! We haven't made a final decision on the app’s business model, but our intent is that regardless of the approach, backers of Wool tier and above will have access to the full features indefinitely.
@Iconfactory Sounds interesting. Will you plan to also Support freshrss.org ? It is where I currently keep my RSS Feeds consolidated. Reading it with another iOS app called Reeder6 and many apps are supported.
@joshuabeny1999 We're planning on supporting a range of source types, but aside from the ones listed on the kickstarter page, we'd need to research any specific source before being able to say for sure one way or the other. Hitting some stretch goals will give us leeway to explore trickier or less common sources. And of course the app will allow people to create their own source connectors.

@Iconfactory I backed and am making an early feature request.
Please do something similar to Nuzzel. It works find which links were shared the most in my Twitter feed. Clearly not Twitter, however why not surface the most shared links over all the available platforms?
@mlevison Quite a few people have said this and it’s officially on the list to investigate. Seems like something like this is going to be needed for sure. 👍
@raminf Appreciate your support! Tapestry will be developed initially for the iPhone and iPad together, so no worries. We hope to reach a stretch goal to bring a macOS version into the fold as well.

@Iconfactory I need another app like I need a hole in my head. Especially since #RSS feeds already do most of what you’re ”inventing”.
And in today’s digital landscape, the kind where the #Privacy and #Security of our #Data is paramount to our personal safety, you’ll get ZERO chance of my support, unless you share your privacy policies upfront and make them a top feature.

@miladiir Tapestry will have the ability to connect to sources that you wouldn’t normally think of as RSS and be able to format many of them in ways RSS can’t. We’re working on a demo that will highlight some of this to answer questions. Stay tuned!
@kataclyst There will be no “account” to create, nothing to sign up for. Our goal is to keep all data on your device. We won’t collect, share or sell anything. This has been our stance with all of our apps, we hate it when companies sell our data.

I’m not sure this would make my life easier. Maybe I’m missing something, but it sounds like this would just bundle my current 4-5 fire hoses into one overwhelming meta-hose. How would this help deal with feed glut?
@nightscotsman These are core questions that honestly we don’t have all the answers to yet. The goal is to design a system that gives you as much control and sanity as possible in a single app so you don’t have to chase people/sources across multiple apps. Is that possible? Probably. We can’t know yet for sure of course.

I'm slightly embarassed to say I've been using Flipboard for that kind of feed aggregation since it came out in 2010. “A bird in the hand" is definitely a thing, but let’s just say that app hasn't gotten better with time. Looking forward to Tapestry potentially taking its place on my home screen!
@voltagex Good question. Everything will be on your device (but syncing between devices will use iCloud). We have no desire to have a server of our own in the middle.
@Iconfactory backer rewards question: if you get a tier that comes with a Wallaroo code but you’ve already got a Wallaroo subscription, does it just add on to the end of your current subscription?
