I can safely say after grudgingly agreeing to try it again yesterday, while it might be possible to say that it has "improved", it is "improved" in the same way that eating 3 rat turds would be an "improvement" over eating having to eat 5.
CRONYIST innovation is publicly funded. Some people the current situation and conclude that profits should be made public (often with precious little thought as to what that looks like). Capitalists look at the current situation and conclude that funding should be and remain private. Capitalism is a profit and loss system; cronyism seeks to make the loss public and keep the profits private.
