Hard disagree. Separation of church and state is right there. RIGHT THERE. in the constitution (I don’t mean literally of course, but you can FEEL it in there). And if you don’t believe me just ask any of the 46 consecutively Christian presidents we’ve had and they’ll tell you the same. The fact that 100% of them are Christian is clearly a coincidence (with #47 baking in the oven). I could easily flip a coin 46 times and have it land heads up every time.
Bonus Drop #47 (2024-05-05): Publisher DoS Recovery Edition
The Drop is off of hiaitus! Today, we cover Debian's efforts to address the "2038 problem" by transitioning to a 64-bit time_t, the benefits of the REST Client extension for VS Codium, and the value of curated, opinionated lists of programming tools and libraries.
Bad idea: an external floppy drive that can appear as a mass storage device of arbitrary size. The way it works is it has a little screen, and you use that to configure how big you want it to be, then it formats the proper number of 3.5" floppy disks.
Then when the PC tries to read a sector that's not on the current disk, the display will just prompt you to insert disk #47 or whatever.
1/4 "Barbarians" by Jacek Markusiewicz impresses me like no other recent work of #GenerativeArt has.
The images of majestic mountain slopes and neatly arranged fields – with occasional buildings strewn in between them – at first feel strangely detached and bland, thanks to a distant, aerial point of view and bleached, bright colours. Yet the way the landscapes are unexpectedly interrupted by smooth, deep, geometrical gashes appears alien and out of place.
4/4 Personally, I like to see the outputs as orbital reconnaissance images of a newly discovered world, taken by spacefaring explorers far away from home, as they stumble upon the unmistakable leftovers of an ancient, advanced civilization.
If they know what it is, they can identify what is happening if some of these adults behind this movement are trying to take advantage of them. With a fifth of the state population meeting the definition for illiteracy and the whole of it being #47 for education in the country, it’s not exactly surprising that the voters (writ large) aren’t familiar enough with how libraries work to prevent being duped into supporting this.
Z ostatniej chwili!
Jutro, tj. w środę 10.1.2024 o godz. 17:00 w Miejskim Domu Kultury „Koszutka” w Katowicach przy ul. Grażyńskiego 47 zagości Grzegorz Chudy malarz akwarelista, badacz kultury i historii Górnego Śląska, który z inspiracji córki oddemonizował beboka, postać z górnośląskiej demonologii, dotąd służącą do dyscyplinowania nieposłusznych dzieci.
@Tim_Eagon I'm just working my way through from the top. I'm currently on #47! It's super interesting to me to see how the hobby changed over time - from the views of both Dragon staff and readers to new technical achievements (they were so happy about getting a microcomputer for their office some issues back!) to new editions and how they were received.
Happy holidays to the 13-14 people who seem to usually read these! I hope you’re all having a great one! Alright now down to brass tacks, this week’s list is up! Really light for me this week:...
Action Comics 2023 Annual #1 - Still loving all the Supes books.
Alan Scott The Green Lantern #3 - Catching up to the other 2 JSA books, Flash and Sandman. All three worth a read.
Amazons Attack #3 - The WW books are a sleeper hit.
Batman Santa Claus Silent Knight #4 - Final issue!
Batman The Brave And The Bold #8 - Been a great anthology book!
Cerebus In Hell Presents MiracleManVark #1 - Continuing my Dave Sim donation project. :)
Cimmerian Box Set Volume 1 (Volumes 1-4) - Not sure until I see it in person, but this is a boxed set of Conan adaptations complete with the original Robert E. Howard stories. Might be worth a look. tfaw.com/dec220977-cimmerian-box-set-vol-01.html
Flash #4 - New Flashiverse has been fascinating.
Flesh-Eating Cheerleaders 1969 #1 - Just kidding, title made me laugh, book looks like the worst of the comics industry. Added to see if anyone reads these things.
Green Arrow #7 - Thought this ended at #6, glad to see it’s going to #12!
Holy Roller #2 - The Adam Sandler written bowling super-hero. #1 could have been better, but I do want to see where it’s going.
Justice Society Of America #8 - More JSA please!
Power Girl #4 - Incredibly fun run, I think this is the Streaky issue.
Spy Vs. Spy Omnibus HC - EVERY Spy vs Spy? Shut up and take my money!
Timeless #1 - This could be one of those “blink and you miss it” books. Alternate Marvel future where Moon Knight has gone mad, merged with StarkTech, the Eternal Machine and taken over the world, opposed by Power Man who is apparently Luke Cage combined with the Sentry, the Hulk and the Iron Fist as the last living hero.
Titans #6 - Not sure about the whole “Beast World” thing, seems un-necessary.
Collage of 6 digital artworks: "There's No Distance #47" by Casey Reas "cambi #44" by Geoffrey Crayon “Mom look, it's glowing! #11” by agrshch "Strange Terrain #3" by Nate Nolting "Ratio #14" by Night Sea "Float Abyss #6" by CHOUCHIAWEI
“There’s No Distance” by Casey Reas: The art is in the live view; smooth animation of dithered black and white shapes that are 2D projections of complex 3D cube rotations. Areas where shapes meet appear visually most intriguing.
