📸 I took these photos in 2011, while Julian was in the same High Court in London where the hearing is happening today; (photos previously unreleased, now under (CC) BySa or LAL 1.3)

Today's hearing is about requesting a permission (!) to appeal (!) his extradition to the US (!) where he faces certain death in prison for his work as a journalist and publisher.

Then, he was appealing against his first extradition request (!) to Sweden...

(a thread) 1/14

An analog photo taken in 2011 of Julian Assange whispering to the hear of Kristinn Hrafnsson. The background is the gothic, cathedral-esque High Court of Justice in London. The colour are yellow/red denoting an antique lighting. The edge of the frame is burnt, indicating a recently loaded film, and blur on Assange's hand and parts of his face evokes a rather dynamic conversation. The photo is CC BySa (or LAL 1.3) J. Julian Assange’s moment of truth has arrived – and the stakes are high

is a arse () and a self important one. Selective revelations were misguided and damaging to all. BUT amongst WikiLeaks material, 'These revealed details of US activities in Iraq and Afghanistan, including attacks on civilians. They also revealed details of the US treatment of prisoners in Guantánamo Bay’

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2024/feb/18/julian-assanges-moment-of-truth-has-arrived-and-the-stakes-are-high

Julian Assange could be freed as US prosecutors ‘consider lesser charges’

http://archive.today/dekgZ (archived article, no paywall)

From The Times. I will believe it when I see it. This has gone on too long. I have no respect for much of Assange's behaviour and subsequent stupidity, but this has clearly been a malicious and dangerous prosecution/rendition with dangerous precedents for journalism and freedom of speech.

A suggestion to everyone quoting calling from to free - why don’t you also ask what Evan Gershkovich is thinking about it? He’s also a jailed journalist. Or why don’t you ask ask Snowden why isn’t he calling for freeing Gershkovich? 🤔

CitizenFour
Deep Web
The Internet's Own Boy
The Great Hack

qualcosa di valido su ad esempio?

Past Time to End the Persecution of Julian Assange

It’s long past time for the U.S. and U.K. to free Julian Assange. His flagrantly unjust incarceration is a global scandal, and the world is quite upset about it. Indeed, on September 19 at the United Nations, heads of state denounced this phony prosecution for the fraud and subterfuge it is – an assault on a free press, and an attack on Assange personally, for practicing journalism.

Extradition decision will be appealed, but only on a few, selected grounds (# 4, 5) ie. discrimination he would face by not being a US citizen, and therefore not benefiting from the protection offered by the first amendment.

"The lawyers have until 2 pm on 24th May to file an agreed case outline.".

founder Julian can bring a new appeal against extradition to the US, the High Court has ruled.

He was granted permission to appeal against the order that he be sent to the US to stand trial for leaking military secrets, which prosecutors say endangered lives.
