Amsterdam is making electric cargo bikes available at recycling centres so that people who need to recycle large items can do so without a car!

Somehow, was out of carts. I don't know how that happens. There were people waiting at the entrance, trailing other people to their cars to grab their carts.

"No sweat," I told the security people at the store entrance. "I brought my own cart."

Same bike, but this time the shot from behind the rear wheel. A black pannier hangs from the rear rack. The bike frame is white, with a blue box on a black platform. A hailong battery sits atop the platform. Same groceries in the box.

The only places I drive by myself are to the DMV/DEQ and the mechanic (i.e. trips for the car's sake.) Half of those trips are with a folding bike in the trunk. #eBikes #CargoBikes #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #BanCars #VisionZero #ODOTGTFOpdx #Bollards #BikeTooter

Now that you have all this stuff, how do you get it home?! A very related question from @enobacon but about carrying stuff in general:

Q5. How do you carry stuff or passengers on a bike? What bags or equipment/accessories make your trips possible?

Just learned Bikes at Work makes trailers that attach to bikes, one of which is big enough it could carry an Urban Arrow if say, ours broke down on a ride somewhere and we needed to haul it home. That would be a lot easier than needing to immediately go rent a truck...
Anyone have one? Or know of other options I should consider?

How am I going to get three armloads of groceries from a half mile away without using a 3000lb wagon? I'll have to walk there and back at least twice just to carry it all. Woe is me... suffering. j/k, obvs exist.

Describes what it’s like to use a cargo bike and reviews the Trek Fetch+ 2:
https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023/09/haul-it-all-treks-latest-e-bike-offering-is-a-cargo-bike/

Using cargo bikes: “[…] you end up with a bike I wouldn't want to use for a ride unless I absolutely needed its cargo-carrying capacity. In fact, if all you need is a couple of items, it's probably better to throw on a backpack and take a regular bike to the store. A cargo bike is the first hardware I've tested that really only makes sense as a second bike.”

Anyone else have the issue of the kickstand on the Urban Arrow not being grippy enough and sliding around on some surfaces when you try to take it off the kickstand? I've even had really smooth asphalt be too slippery when wet for instance.

I was thinking of adding some grip tape or something to the bottom like they use on sports equipment, but I was hoping someone had a better suggestion.

I saw a woman walking along Moody with a full bag of groceries the other night and I really wanted to ride up and ask "have you heard the good news about ?" (as I was on one) and offer a lift, because walking an armload half a mile is tedious. But I didn't 😒

Can everyone on agree whether we're using the plural form or the singular form for hashtags? Or can Mastodon core give us a feature that enables smooshing hashtags together if one is the plural form of the other?

Who has $9k to spend on and wants to try this? With the motor and (in the rear wheel), front suspension, cable steering, should be quite the ride (caveat really steep hills vs 130lb bike with hub motor in 26in wheel, you need to keep some speed up and probably need dual batteries, but you can check on the ebikes.ca motor/trip simulator vs your actual hills.)
