Want to learn about how a cargobike can replace your car? Even if you have a family, errands, large amounts of stuff to haul? Come check out cargobikes at 2pm on June 3rd at the Garneau Lamp, and then join us for a screening of Motherload.

News feature about cargobikes: https://urbanaffairs.ca/edmonton-ish/park-the-vehicle-use-a-cargo-bike-instead/

Kellyshenanigans,

I'll also plug that both our are electric, and e-cargobikes can be helpful for some disabled people. I, for example, get sore and tired easily due to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and I find driving sensorily overwhelming due to speed because of Autism and ADHD. Electric cargobikes go slower, can carry all the things I need, and help me move even if I'm too tired/sore to walk or pedal an analog bike. They are barrier removers, and mobility devices.

This simple infographic from Cargoroo makes a clear point, if you want to save the planet, e-cars are not the answer...

It may be underappreciated simply how fun it is to ride a modern electric cargo bike. We recently switched from an 2014 Urban Arrow to this 2023 Riese&Müller Transporter 65 and the developments in battery and motors really makes a big difference.

If you tried and perhaps dismissed one of these years ago, give them another chance.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll be in Stittsville for the Mission to Mars family ride. Our sweet ride is ready to go (great bike to take kids to their activities, do grocery, and more).

Looking forward to seeing little people and tall people on bikes. @StittsvilleBike

#cargobike #coffee deliveries in #sheffield completed this morning.

It’s not cheating using #ebikes (although it is using Strava but that’s just for visual representation), if it wasn’t for electric-assist bikes we would be driving. Averaging 20km/hr isn’t that much slower than a car. Two hours in the saddle.

We should be building for #cargobikes more than EVs. Cheaper for everyone, much better for the environment, better all round.

While Sweden is still asleep after the glorious ESC victory, cargo bikes are slowly taking over the Swedish logistics industry.

Last night a woman in an SUV honked three times as she came up behind me and the baby on the Urban Arrow, then pulled up alongside us and slowed down. We stopped to chat.

She is in her second trimester with her third kid, the other two being tweens. She wanted to know what kind of bike I was riding and where she could get one - nearly in tears, she told me how hard it's been for her to be less active while pregnant, and looking towards having a young baby again.

She was amazed at the possibility of being able to bike with a baby or toddler. She lives close to the grocery store, but it's a little far to walk with a stroller. But with a bike!? I could see her mind opening to the possibility. The potential freedom. It was a really cool conversation, honestly. She was so excited and took notes on her phone of how my bike got here and what the car seat adapter is called, and eventually, she drove off.

daughter keeps asking how many bikes I have now and I try to count but we lose track somewhere in the debate about how to count scooters or trikes or the pedalflow, trailer bike, unicycle... 😂

"you could literally buy an , ride it for a year, and throw it in the garbage ... and you could do that every single year, and you'd still come out better financially, than buying a car."

Apparently the first time ever that Finnish car and consumer technology magazine TM (Tekniikan Maailma, lit. “The World of Technology”), largest of its kind in Scandinavia, reviews a cargo bike. They tried new Riese&Müller Load4.

Important to note that they literally picked one of the more expensive models on the market. There are many capable but more affordable alternatives.

Anyone else have the issue of the kickstand on the Urban Arrow not being grippy enough and sliding around on some surfaces when you try to take it off the kickstand? I've even had really smooth asphalt be too slippery when wet for instance.

I was thinking of adding some grip tape or something to the bottom like they use on sports equipment, but I was hoping someone had a better suggestion.
