If anyone has ever taken the trouble to read the comments (when allowed) below any article on Scotland will have realised, many, if not all, readers (they definitely seem to have done so) take a rather different view.

One more for their collection of ‘balanced articles' I suppose, along with Crace, Rowson and many more.

That's it, Lisa, play for the gallery now you've slid up the Scottish Office pole.

Now tell us why you too need an armed guard.

Pitiful.

"Following the defection, Dr Cameron said she received death threats, which led to her and her family temporarily moving out of their home."

Nobody cared. "Good riddance" was the prevailing attitude for her and the other useless TERF who had a run at the top job, propped up by Southern papers and a frankly "entryist" tactic.

@HornedLivestock I could well understand her leaving the SNP FOR ‘reasons’, but defecting to the Tories demonstrates that she never had the best interests of Scotland at heart anyway. Not a broad church (see Ash), more one with a hole blown through the walls and half the foundations.

Fears UK Government will block funding for pro-independence artists

https://www.thenational.scot/news/24125388.fears-uk-government-will-block-funding-pro-independence-artists/

They will and are doing so for anyone who does not toe the WasteMonster line. It's not just pro independence, it is anyone who does not bow and tug their forelocks.

It took a long time for Welsh and Gaelic languages to be ‘allowed' to exist as one simple example.

In this new article in The Political Quarterly, I analyse how Nicola Sturgeon spent her time as First Minister of Scotland.

To whom and what did she give her time as FM — which issues and interest groups had access and proximity? Which didn't?

I went through two years of Ministerial diaries, cross-referenced with the Lobbying Register and FOI publications, to find out.

So the party losing 4% of their vote in the is being hailed as a resounding success!

Realistically it's a win for apathy and a rebellion against another politician that broke the rules.

Of the 55 'overlooked' towns receiving Sunak's £1Bn 'levelling up' funding:

▪ 62% have Tory MPs.
▪ This includes Elgin represented by Scottish Conservatives leader Douglas Ross and Dumfries by Secretary of State for Scotland Alister Jack.
▪ Others are marginal seats held by Labour MPs.

Overall happy seeing the short-term let controls going ahead without further delay, and no sympathy for the Airbnb landlords complaining.. Buut, the fact they've included home swaps(!), and people genuinely renting out a spare room in their house / when travelling, seems just frustratingly stupid and unnecessary.

My latest column in this week's Common Weal newsletter is a long one but possibly the most important I've written.

Due to a loophole that must be urgently closed, Common Weal has been forced to delete from the public record several attempts to tell you how we've lobbied MSPs. We have no idea how many orgs deliberately exploit this loophole to hide their lobbying.
