Another great special on Apple TV+. Really been impressed with their newer content featuring one-ofs focusing on individual characters (see: Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Marcie). The vibe is accurate.

If this comic from February 14, 1963 seems familiar, it’s because Schulz used the same joke in “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” but changed the holiday.

Today in 2000, Charles Schulz's final strip ran in Sunday newspapers, the day after he died in his sleep.

He drew 17,897 strips over the entire run. Legend!

Get ready for the big game with the 1994 television special, "You're in the Super Bowl, Charlie Brown."

Produced with a license from the to use official team uniforms, it was broadcast on NBC and distributed on VHS at Shell gas stations.

You won't find it on Blu-ray or streaming most likely due to licensing issues. But thanks to the @internetarchive, you can watch it now: https://archive.org/details/youreinthesuperbowlcharliebrown

So, this has been hanging on our refrigerator since it came out in 2009. Rather than scan in the yellowed, dog-eared print, I found a bright, new, online version at brianmcfadden.org (the creator's website). This still makes me laugh -- especially the last panel!

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" is an iconic holiday tradition, but have you ever explored the source material... the original comic strips that inspired the show?

Thanks to @unpackingpeanuts and Joshua Stauffer, you can explore the surprising inspiration for most of the TV special's scenes. Handy PDF with dates and explanations: https://www.unpackingpeanuts.com/post/a-charlie-brown-christmas-comic-guide

For example, 7/1/59: "Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you’re the Charlie Browniest!”

7/28/63: "How can you say someone is great who's never had his picture on bubble gum cards?"

12/30/56: Snoopy dances on top of Schroeder's piano.

12/24/64: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night."

12/18/66: "That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."
