All you motherfuckers who are like, "I should join Threads now to entice people to TEH FEDAVORSE" are like, "You know what we should do with Naizis, is debate them in the marketplace of ideas." Or fuckin' Narnia. Whatever.
Boostable decentralized LIFO social feed services (like #mastodon) should implement a reddit-style rating system (but absolutely only for replies). It would make conversations here much better, deal with the #ReplyGuy problem and give us a better version of the #CommunityNotes feature they have over at #Xitter.
I haven't used #Xitter since they implemented them, but #CommunityNotes seem like a really good idea. we could basically have that if all replies here functioned like reddit. threaded with up/down votes. no stars or boosts possible. imo #lemmy and #kbin should not be separate servers etc. no subreddits. hashtags instead. give us a sorting option when you click on one.
#SocialMedia#Twitter#Musk#CommunityNotes#ContentModeration#FactChecking: "Community Notes’ value to Musk wasn’t just in its potential utility for inviting advertisers concerned about (in)accurate information on Twitter, but in its ability to cut costs: an entirely volunteer-run army of amateur fact-checkers to replace the paid content moderators to whom he’d shown the door. The Chief Twit’s controversial moves here didn’t sit well with many longtime Birdwatchers, who complained to the Post that “we don’t have a moderator anymore.” A college student involved with the Birdwatch Discord from jump mentioned that “it feels like the entirety of the Twitter misinformation system is now reliant on Birdwatch. Birdwatch is important but shouldn’t be the adjudicator of facts.”"
A lot people can't write #TwitterCommunityNotes because they deleted their #twitter account or because they don't have time to rate enough other #CommunityNotes that it will let them write anything.
If you don't know what they are, they are a little fact check box that appear.under a dubious tweet, but they need to be endorsed by other people who have qualified for community notes.
