"Biden is not evil. Trump is truly evil," Robert Reich says in a statement I excerpted here yesterday critiquing the "voting for the lesser of two evils" argument that justifies putting Trump back into the White House by voting third-party or refraining from voting.
Negative responses to Reich's statement run the gamut:
Evil? What's evil? Evil's in the eye of the beholder.
Talking about evil is inappropriate in the real of politics.
If Trump is evil, then Biden is evil, too.
The constant running through these objections to Reich's statements is the oburate refusal of not a few of us to grant that Donald Trump promises to bring real evil into the White House if Americans return him there.
This a refusal to admit that assisting Trump in any way to rise to power and regain the White House enmeshes those who aid and abet him in evil.
It is an outright refusal to see evil in the world around us in places where people with trustworthy perspectives and keen sight warn us we should be seeing evil.
"Some people tell me they hate Trump but don’t particularly like Biden. They say Biden is too old, or he’s not doing enough to stop Israel’s bombing of Gaza, or he’s caved to Big Oil, or he isn’t tough enough.
So they tell me they’re not going to vote next November. Or they’ll vote for a third-party candidate.
Maybe you know someone like this. Or you yourself fall into this camp."

The most worrying thing about this debate right now is that it's not clear what "#good" and "#evil" mean; people just can't resist flirting with drama. They're always teetering on the edge.
