Students who change schools between 8th and 9th grade (such as when adolescents from multiple middle schools move to a single high school) report significantly less delinquency after the shift than those who do not.
I’ve decided I should actually try reading the rest of the Dune books. I tried once before, but bounced off either the 2nd or 3rd. But thinking on it, that was 35 years ago when I was twelve. So maybe it’s time for my adult brain to try it out.
Having started in on Dune Messiah I’m fairly certain I did read it before. It’s likely Children of Dune that I couldn’t get far in during middle school.
So far it’s a good sequel to Dune. In fact, it really feels more like a 3rd part to the original book.

@georgetakei My daughter is a middle school teacher near that university. It was the first day of classes. She teaches gr 7. The kids were nervous but they grew up with shooter drills and secure lockdowns. Think about how sad that is. #shooterdrills #middleschool #lockdowns
