Guys, how do you manage lists on #GtS?
I figured it out once, but now I'm lost.
I can view them in #semaphore, but can't edit them.
I can view them and remove members in #Phanpy, but can't add them.
For [mainline] #Mastodon users who want to be able to follow the “Local” and/or “Federated” timeline(s) of a different instance without creating yet another account can use the #Phanpy frontend.
More info:
There are 3 different layouts. In my screenshots, I used the multi-column layout to demonstrate how I'm seeing the different instances' “Local” and “Federated” timelines.
In addition to the above, you can also see the following features:
Auto-translate
Highlights
Threads
CW
Click to refresh (or scroll to top to refresh) -- a setting
Dark mode
Following 5 hashtags in one column (similar to Mastodon's default frontend)
I took the decision to create a new fediverse account on a #mastodon server. I was using #Firefish, but I wanted to use the amazing @phanpy front end, which only works with Mastodon.
It's a deliciously pleasing, well thought out interface. The move was worth it -- I just need to work on building up my presence and followers.
I started using #phanpy yesterday, and I am mostly loving it, but that it keeps adjusting the text to be smaller every few characters is doing a number on me.
Fellow #Phanpy users who enjoy the boost carousel feature, remember that you can hold down a modifier key (which seems to be shift by default on most platforms) to scroll horizontally using your mouse wheel. So you don't have to aim for the teeny arrow buttons.
I use horizontal scroll very seldom, so it took me a while to figure this out.
@cheeaun why does #phanpy hide the post stats for followings behind a "View post stats" click, but boosted non-followings' post stats appear automatically? Is it because the data hasn't been fetched yet?
Wow. I just discovered @phanpy and love it! It's a very clean, opinionated Mastodon web client that runs entirely from a static site, meaning you can trivially self-host it.
I'd love to see how an instance could self-host this as a sort of "alt" UI with the default server pre-selected and stuff, maybe just allowing registered users on that instance to log in. 🤔
switched from fulltime @elk to fulltime @phanpy recently (after having many reoccurring issues with Elk recently that seem to be a bit on hold from being worked on) and am very impressed by how nice #Phanpy is!
@cheeaun have noticed this bar come up just on boost carousel posts. Is the plan to roll out more widely? Is it to get a sense of what kind of material accounts are posting? Thank you #phanpy
In #Phanpy, I just noticed that for some account profiles, I'm getting this statistics bar. But nit for others. Is that a feature of the profile's instance?
@cheeaun I see that filtered posts are hidden correctly in Phanpy, but the filters are not applied to the boosted posts. Could Phanpy.social hide the boosts that are filtered too? Thanks.
@phanpy I love that I can share posts/profiles to be viewed via the #phanpy interface, I think it's a better first impression of Mastodon than the default web view, great work!
It's sadly time to set it aside until they can get their shit together if not at all.
In the meantime, I always like how #Megalodon (@megalodon) does things and you should give that a try. Also you can use #phanpy or the browser version of Mastodon as well.
