I had thought that most of the content was animated cartoons or kids' fare, but there was a surprising number of 70s sci-fi movie discs. It is neat how this nearly 100-year-old technology still does 3D so incredibly well.
How could you mimic that effect in the browser? A quick animated gif strobing between the left and right images? Would that work?
Put the disc in the slot at the top, press the lever on the right side, and look through the lenses: you'll see the first of seven #stereoscopic views. Press the lever again to see the next image. The description of what each slide shows is printed on the disc, and is visible through an opening above and between the lenses. For more information, read the included 16-page booklet. #Viewmaster
#ThrowbackThursday #ViewMaster: Still awesome after all these years. The red model os the one I got as a kid, while the others are models from the fifties that I used to collect. One of them even has the notes of the kid that originally owned it. Many times I have tried to imagine how his childhood would have been like.
@jarulf collecting things is fun. I wanted to start collecting #viewmaster reels but then I had to move internationally once again and slipped in to the state of wanting to own nothing but a toothbrush and a towel because moving is so stressful. Now I'm in Germany and, well, not a lot of Viewmaster reels to be found here. But I still might. Have fun with your collection!
