AtcherleyONS, to nature

My photos of the delightful, friendly Waxwings at Brandon Marsh on Friday have gone down well, so here's another.

This portrait is entitled, "Wot are you lookin' at, mate?!?"

I finally got to see some Waxwings today! 😍

While visiting Brandon Marsh near Coventry I was told that Waxwings were present. I have waited years to see these birds! I found the spot where they were active, and eventually a dozen or so landed in a bush just a few metres away from me. Wow, just wow!

These birds are absolute rock stars and I am beyond thrilled to have seen them at last.

I made a little more good progress on my of today.

Have you seen any of these spectacular birds this winter?

I was chuffed to bits to catch up with these delightful winter visitors not 20 minutes from home. There were just 4 of the 20+ that had been showing an hour or so before I arrived.

There are at least three flocks, local to us at the moment.

Thanks to others posting their sightings in Edinburgh, I took a walk to Dalmeny Park to see the flock of waxwings. They were easy to see when flying but much harder in the trees. I took some pictures, and it was only when I was editing them that I realised there were many more in the tree than I saw at the time!

Two waxwings perched on a branch of a birch tree in the centre of the picture. The birds are silver-grey on their belly with dark wings, and they have a tuft on the back of their heads.
Several waxwings in a birch tree, only once of which I was aware of when takeing the photograph. The birds are silver-grey on their belly with dark wings, and they have a tuft on the back of their heads.

Alerted to waxwings in a rowan tree over the road by a gathering of twitchers.
Had to ask what they were as completely forgot.
