Good news: I got #webmentions working locally with @astro ! 🥳

Bad news: They're not showing in production, there's not even a request, nor is my try & catch throwing me an error 🤡

Why is it SO HARD to get them working with #astro?? Meanwhile the #11ty community has tons of resources on how to do it...

I assume that it's some client-side issue but I've had enough of this, time to start the weekend

Aurora Australis, from Shelly Beach at Port MacDonnell, South Australia. Cheeky five hour drive to catch this and so worth it - absolutely breathtaking to see those beams towering over me. Experience of a lifetime.

Look outside NOW if you’re anywhere close to aurora possible tonight - We are in a light polluted car park in central Newcastle and can SEE MOVING LINES ACROSS THE SKY!! With naked eye!! Visible structure and even a touch of green under streetlights 🤩 Literally never had this before.

Running home to get SLR cameras now. Will be up for a late night!

The Elephant's Trunk Nebula IC 1396 was the target of yesterdays clear night and here I would like to share the result:

My first try on a DSO two panel mosaic.
Guiding and banding noise have been quite a problem for this project, well there is always room for improvements...

Disclaimer: This is a "false" color image using a HOO color palette.

Inspired by @matthiasott great newsletter: has anyone experience implementing #webmentions with @astro?

Here's his article: https://buttondown.email/ownyourweb/archive/issue-14/

And here's what I found but couldn't test yet: https://kld.dev/adding-webmentions/

Hey @marcuslindblom, do you have by any chance documented how to make work with ?

I'm no and wizard so I'm currently stuck. Plenty of tutorials out there, but they're not helping me haha

Finally got my first proper shot of the Eagle Nebula (M16)!

This target was a real pain to photograph from my location, because I had to get up at 3 AM and M16 still is pretty low in altitude for me... but luckily a gap in the surrounding trees made this 6x600s stack possible.

Obviously Focus and Guiding are not optimal, this is still work in progress to get fixed.

Dodging clouds ☁️☁️☁️
About 90% illuminated moon, waxing gibbous 20.04.2024 about 8.30pm.

Very quick shots just after twilight as cloud moved in.
These are the best two from about 40 rapid shots.

Shot with a Skywatcher Skymax 127 with Canon EOS700D

90% illuminated disc of moon against black, starless background. Shadow line on far left of the moon. Top two thirds of the disc covered by high, whispy, fine high cloud which darken the disc and obscure some detail.

We had a super fun (surprisingly tiring) afternoon watching the . The big zoom lens, telescope, and solar filters worked great. Neighbors came out and we watched the sun spots get covered up. The telescope had enough detail to see the craggily edges of the moon. Milli enjoyed the sun and observed some diffraction from inside. One neighbor said “you have the coolest gizmos on the block!” All things considered, it was a lovely experience, no regrets.

About 1/3 of the sun is being blocked by the moon, photo shot with 600mm lens and solar filter, dark sun spots are visible in a couple of places
Outdoor scene in a neighborhood, silver cylindrical telescope mounted on a tripod sits in the grass, blue sky with white clouds above, a large tree is on the left and a row of houses is on the right
Milli, a small grey cat, walks on a beige carpet in the sun from a window, small crescent moons are visible where the blinds have diffracted the light from the eclipsed sun
