I've just learned that Romhacking.net is planning on removing their HomeBrew section entirely, probably during the next major update to the site. Sad, sad news.
I played some Venturous tonight, an Indiana Jones inspired, Total Conversion for Doom 2.
It's been a few years since I dipped my toes into the modding scene for Doom and this pack blew my mind!
New weapons, enemies, environments, skyboxes, gadgets. Creator PixelFox has really done an amazing job on their first TC.
I played it using GZDoom and my original Doom 2 wad file and all you do is drop the pk3 file onto GZDoom.exe and you're off to the Nazi-infested jungles of South America to search for the Lost City of Atlantis!

Back in grade school, I had the shareware for an overlooked FPS by the name of Rise of the Triad which I absolutely loved and played to death.
For whatever reason, it wasn't until the release of the Ludicrous Edition nearly 30 years later that I finally sat down and played through the full version.
Thanks Nightdive, for helping me close out a beloved and long overdue piece of my childhood. <3
I might be really late on this but I discovered website that I think is just as amazing as myabandonware today through a youtube video by a channel called Dungeon Chill. https://collectionchamber.blogspot.com I'm putting this post here for myself as much as everyone else. This kind of stuff is my jam. #classicgaming#abandonware#gaming
Today at work a younger coworker asked what I’ve been playing, and I replied how I’d been putting a lot of time into the new release of “Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition”.
He wasn’t familiar with it (unsurprising), so I started to explain it was an old DOS shooter I played a whole bunch growing up. He then proceeded to ask me what a DOS shooter was.
Just tried the AGI version of King's Quest IV on ScummVM. It's interesting that the displayed text at 0:02 shows additional ScummVM information to the version number.
New video out! Here's my look at the Sega Genesis version of Shadow Dancer. This is the complete game with commentary and there's a little mini-comparison with the arcade version at the end of the video. Check it out!
My first time playing River City Ransom on the NES tonight and what a game! A two button and two player beat-down, the attacks, split paths and RPG elements really add to the enjoyment. The weapons are pretty varied too.
It was released in 1989 by Technos who had popularised the scrolling beat-em-up genre (AKA fight n' go right) with both 1986's Renegade and their 1987 arcade smash, Double Dragon.
It is regarded as an NES classic and has been on my list of games to play on the MISTer. Having spent a good hour with it, I can confirm it's going straight to my favourites list.
