William Russell, what a legacy. One of the very first stars of . Is there anyone else who was still playing the same character in the same TV show 59 years later? https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2024/jun/04/william-russell-obituary

Little known fact. In the UK, it’s spelled Docto Who not Doctor Who

If I would rank all RTD2 episodes so far, it migh look something like this:

  1. Boom
  2. Wild Blue Yonder
  3. 73 Yards
  4. Dot and Bubble
    ..Quality gap..
  5. The Giggle
  6. The Star Beast
    ..Quality gap..
  7. The Devil's Chord
  8. Space Babies
  9. The Church on Ruby Road

The first 4 are solidly good (Boom and WBY are actually great), the second 2 are mostly ok, the bottom 3 are meh-ok at best for me.

@actuallyautistic looking for non-rabid fans for discussions of both the classic and revival series

and by non-rabid, i mean people not on the “it’s gone woke”, “Jodi Whittaker destroyed the series”, etc. bandwagon

Holy wow, Dot and Bubble. I don't know that the previous iterations of the show - or any show for a family audience - would have been as bold. This one is absolutely not holding back.

The fact that classic Marvel UK Transformers artist Geoff Senior still draws Transformers is great but even cooler is he still often draws/paints Death's Head, the character he created with Simon Furman that was first in the Transformers stories, then crossed over into Marvel UK's Doctor Who comic stories and then the Marvel superhero universe too. :O

And Senior's art style is still awesome. I love it. So dynamic :)

🆕 blog! “The DALEK World (1965)”

You're a big Doctor Who fan, right? If I asked you what the world DALEK meant, you'd probably tell me that it is an anagram of KALED - the original name of their species. You'd be wrong. In 1965, it was clearly established by a canonical source, that the world DALEK stands for: Destroy without […]

It will never ever, ever happen because he's not British, but I swear to God, Guillermo Del Toro is possibly the best person on the planet to helm right now.

Just give us ONE season of Del Toro Who. It could be glorious.

I'm a little late to this, but I'm glad that there is a fork of the Doctor Who Fandom site at tards.wiki.

I think I need to watch it another time (or two) but isn't vibing with me like it is for most others in my orbit

While it raises many questions that are intriguing and are fun to speculate about, I think there's one question that is bugging me to the point of getting in the way of my enjoyment of the episode

[SPOILERS] The ending of episode "73 Yards" didn't reveal what the woman was saying to get people to run away from Ruby, and it seems we may never know. https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-73-yards-mystery-newsupdate/

This week, we find ourselves completely unable to connect and terrified of being abandoned by everyone we’ve ever cared about. Fortunately there’s an excellent episode of Doctor Who to cheer us up.

Very important #EMFcamp question:

Will there be anywhere to watch the new #DoctorWho on Saturday evening?

(Or earlier if someone has an American Disney+ and a non-blocked VPN 😄)

jynersolives, to DoctorWho
@jynersolives@mastodon.social avatar

There's probably one issue I have with a lot of RTD-written episodes of #DoctorWho Season One: they rarely establish a rulebook and play by it. It's all very vague and whimsical a la "and then this happened". In "The Giggle" we had some rules laid out with the Toymaker but e.g. in "The Devil's Chord" I had no idea why stuff that happened actually happened. It's a bit similar with "73 Yards", which was held together by atmosphere and Millie Gibson.

Hey y'all. So... since I was in Junior High, my fellow nerds were always watching Doctor Who on PBS.

I never got into it but due to the fact that I traveled in D&D, chess, home computer, board games (Diplomacy, anyone?) & other nerd circles, I knew about how the Doctor was a Timelord, changed bodies every season or so & the Cybermen & Daleks & many enemies of the Doctor were legendary.

I'm in my mid-50s now & I've never seen a single episode of . So...

Where should I start? 😁
