Picked up "Italic Letters" from the Getty-Dubay series and the recommendation for lefties is to turn the page 90ish degrees (the picture is looking at my left hand and the page as I was). It's awkward and I'm unsure about it, but why not, I can always fall back to my reasonable Spencerian if I hate it. Working with a Kaweco with Noodler's Khruschev red

La tolerancia llegará a tal nivel qué a las personas inteligentes se les prohibirá pensar para no ofender a los idiotas.

I got a new fountain pen, and it has the trans flag colors! It's a Hongdian N9 with a "long blade" or architect nib. The nib took me a bit to get used to, but I find it gives particularly nice shading to my inks, and has a wet flow, which I appreciate.

Here I'm using Sailor Studio 024 ink and Cosmo Air Snow paper.

A few years ago I started doing "binocular lowercase g's".

They're weirdly addictive and adorable.

Two new fountain pens.
To my surprise, the Swipe EF is a wetter nib than the Jinhao. Not sure yet how much of that could be due to the ink.
As you can see, my right hand writing (25 days and counting) still needs some work.

Does anyone here teach or cursive remotely to older grade school kids (grades 4-6)?

If so, feel free to publicly or privately message me - would be helpful to know your rates & a couple references or a website or some such?

*I know these things are challenging to teach remotely! We just don't have a choice given our location (& COVID risk group).

Thank you!

Just FYI, for people who write a lot with mechanical pens, check out the Kuru Toga line with rotating lead engine. Every time you lift up your pen the lead rotates slightly which keeps your lead relatively sharp to a point. They are also very affordable at <$20 on amazon.

Just a note, they are inexpensive so despite some of them looking like metal they are light and plastic. But they seem high quality and dont break easily.

Today I bought my first since decades and it shall be one of my daily drivers from now on.

It's a stainless steel fine.

However, due to my advanced processes, I rarely write things down on .

I'd love to do so much more if there would be a great solution for offline . That would be a great investment by the industry! 🤔

It still offers better solutions compared to my tablet.

My Faber Castell pencil, my Fisher space pen and the Lilliput by Kaweco. The latter two are for being available through my trousers pockets while being away from my computer. I use the pencil for short term notes captured on paper.

Hello Friends, I need a little help reading a handwritten memo that I can't quite make out. I'll probably feel dumb if someone else can read it, but If anyone can decipher the parts I'm missing...

And my handwriting has vastly improved since I started writing consistently with a fountain pen. Not that my handwriting is all that good now.

In 1974, ANSI published the Standard character set for handprinting (ANSI X3.45-1974). It proposed a uniform method of acceptable to optical character recognition technology of the day. It included only upper case letters.

It had some quirks: letter O has a tail at the top, like Q rotated 90 degrees. S has a little tail at the bottom left. U has a square base. Z has a full-width bar at mid level.

I wonder if anyone ever used it?
