Amazing to see the finally taking forced seriously. Knowing what I do about the organization, this is a huge shift and one that, I imagine, only happened due to the dedicated work of academics and activists on this issue.

Do you know what the acronym AILDI stands for? It's the AI Labor Disclosure Initiative, which asks a simple question: What would happen if tech companies were legally required to report the number of human workers concealed behind their automated solutions? On April 23, 2024, I'll be addressing this topic at the ILO in Geneva.

time and again i keep coming back to c140, ilo's paid educational leave convention:

https://www.ilo.org/dyn/normlex/en/f?p=NORMLEXPUB:12100:0::NO:12100:P12100_INSTRUMENT_ID:312285:NO

only 35 countries have ratified it, with glaring absence of amurkah > see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paid_Educational_Leave_Convention,_1974

and even in countries where c140 is in force, it's not all good > e.g. in germany, two states keep violating the ratified convention: bavaria (germany's economic powerhouse) and saxony prefer to suppress workers' rights > both german states share a history of far-right leaning governments, accompanied by far-right terrorism

So my "Build a self contained server for remote site" project is nearing completion.

It's looking very good, so I am higher!

So I found a PCI Slot bracket keystone mount (for Ethernet jacks)!

But it's a full-height bracket and I have a half height/low profile slot.

So, with zero CAD experience and no printer to test with, do we think I can do it??

😂

So, does anyone have a few mins to remove one of the ports and shorten it?

I had intended on exclusively using the server's power supply for the Router but then I remembered that the PSU's 12v rail turns off when the server is off. 🤣

I deal with servers so much that I forget PSUs turn off; when a server has Lights Out Management I don't really treat it as being 'off'.
As I want to be able to manage the server via and be able to power the system back on remotely, I need the router (and it's site-to-site VPN tunnel) to be powered.

So dual power via a PoE Injector!
