"Bottom line is that Trump didn’t know much and doesn’t even know how to learn more, and you can’t be good at the job without knowing much. That, even more than his disregard for the rule of law, made him a very dangerous president for four years, and given that there’s no evidence he’s learned anything it would make him a very dangerous president again."

MPs, understand this: protests are inevitable when you fail to represent the people

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/mar/10/streets-mps-protesters-politics-gaza-climate-parliament

Quite true. And his description ‘A sign of a healthy political system, we are often told, is one where most people get on with their lives and leave politics to the professionals.’ Amuses.

Professional only in that many of them make a living out of it. Not competent. Not bound by some principles or ethics.

Expect protests and more.

Flight wankery

It gets even more incompetent. A replacement flight is on for 6.0 in the morning (still won’t get us back to the hospital shift for partner).

All in a queue. I thought I had better ask. Only half knew about the replacement. No alarms from the hotel. All eligible for flights, Aer Lingus screwed up at least two possible comms routes.

Do you think ALingus want them to miss it? Or are they just careless?

Hey guys, remember the (thankfully departing) "VP-CIO" (maybe demoted?) at my University, who created a user nightmare by outsourcing almost all of our IT? Most recently, he bought into a (second!!!!) scheme from Microsoft that adulterates incoming email in the body of the message, to flag potential phishing.

Now I get this:

From: "[Good Riddance], Chief Information Officer" <cio@buffalo.edu>

You don't often get email from cio@buffalo.edu. Learn why this is important <https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>

elb,
@elb@social.sdf.org avatar

Update: it turns out that the new anti-phishing system (which also includes a quarantine system for suspicious emails) is currently quarantining messages from our LMS.
