@mammoth@kylewritescode I’ve been trying to discover new and interesting #infosec accounts and have wanted to get some use out of the /cybersecurity curated list on #mammoth but in its current state I don’t find it very useful or high-signal. The feed is dominated (at times) by some AI cyber bot thing “cyberfeed” and “Beyond Machines” and some other high-volume posters who only post about infosec a small percentage of the time. It’s also littered with reply posts that are not useful in isolation (even if the parent post is relevant to infosec). How often is this list updated? I’d be happy to help with curation. My timeline is very high-signal on all things infosec & cybersecurity fwiw.
I love the idea of the curated lists and appreciate all the time that’s gone into working on it so far though!!
I've been going back and forth on whether to get an #ivory subscription or stick with #mammoth on my iPhone.
Honestly quite impressed with Mammoth considering it's a free app - and more customizable than Ivory from what I can tell. But I do like the idea of supporting the #tweetbot devs.
Any recommendations for #Mastodon apps on #iOS? I’m currently using #IceCubesApp and #Mammoth. Biggest issue I’ve had with both is that when opening the app they don’t show me the most recent posts.
Anyone know of a #mastodon app that has some sort of “for you”-style algorithmic timeline feature? I’d be interested in perusing something like that from time to time to surface #infosec content / accounts that are buried in the fediverse. I’m familiar with #mammoth curated feeds and some other clients have a “popular” function but need something more specific to my interests. Thanks!
Today I tried several 3rd party clients on iOS and MacOS: #Mammoth #Tusker #IceCubes #Metatext
But most likely I will stick with #PWA version of Mastodon. It doesn't need any updates and has all recent features.
Playing around a bit, the official #Mastodon app for #iOS is getting better. It doesn’t feel as slick as #Mammoth, #Woolly or #Ivory yet. Especially things like settings, notifications (don’t expand likes), profile (bookmarks, etc. at the top), or federated tabs could use some love.
The new icon set is overal nice, but the compose icon is now like the rest of the tab bar, which feels odd, tapping it accidentally opens the compose window which doesn’t allow you to switch to the others anymore.
I will never use any mobile #Mastodon app that still does this. The screen is already tiny and this is a huge chunk of wasted screen real estate. Wrap your text around the images or GTFO. #tootapp#mammoth#etc
#Mammoth updated. The good thing is they went open source. The bad thing is they tried to make me auto-follow their account (I did get visual prompts in their new features screen but I wasn't able to unfollow on that screen), and they got a Threads-ish icon. Their #SmartLists feature appears concerning: it sends your handle to their official instance moth.social, which is using a Mastodon fork serving the "Smart Lists" feature. One can reasonably see how this undermines #decentralization ...
Hey @mammoth! Care to comment on the new app 2.0 #privacy? Looks like it collects more data than previous version. Many other #Mastodon apps either don’t collect data period or don’t link to the user. #mammoth#mammoth2
I’m client hopping... #Ivory seems to be falling behind in features and it’s not cheap to boot
#mammoth has some interesting features like their lists and threading mode but their custom UI design with tiny navigational buttons is awful and implicit IMHO
#IceCubes seems fairly on par with Ivory, but it doesn’t have an inline emoji selector (neither does Mammoth actually)
Out of these only Mammoth plays animated avatars and emoji...
While waiting for a work process to finish, I felt the need to enter "A woolly mammoth, eating a bowl of noodles." in the command prompt of an AI picture generator.
