Wikipedia: "The plant is rich in calcium and phosphorus and as such makes up the bulk of the diet of white-tailed deer in the northeastern United States in the spring."
April weather remains changeable…what am I saying? It’s like that all year round.
Living with four seasons in one day is the norm here in Scotland. In fact the old idea that the seasons were four distinct phases in the year has become a rather quaint way of looking at the passing of time. Although the flora and fauna know are familiar with the changes and adapt well, I struggle with finding the right kind of raincoat.
These "official start days for seasons" that Brits and Americans have are so weird to me.
Like... "Winter solstice is the start of winter"?
Nah, dude, It's called "Midwinter" for a reason. Just like Midsummer isn't the start of summer but the middle of summer.
And spring is from March 1st to the last of May thank you very much.
@WhyNotZoidberg Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me either. Originally the Solstice/Equinox would mark the mid-point of a season, so that's what I'm sticking with.
Hello. My favourite season has arrived and I'm looking forward to Canberra looking magnificent in full autumn splendour. And with luck, a few new photos to share.
Here's a favourite from the tail end of autumn last year.
@SallyABL So fun to see since I am in Vermont, USA, where we are on the opposite side of seasons … just coming out of winter into Spring. Our autumn foliage is a good 6+ months away!
