Tim Cook’s run it for 13, 2011-2024

Since Jobs’ health steadily declined from 2006, requiring Cook to step in regularly, I think it’s safe to say that modern Apple is now more of a Tim Cook organisation than it is a Steve Jobs one

Last I tried screwing around with , and on I had a bunch of fun with scripts from sbo and dependency hell – since neither is an official slack package.

How does this fare in 2024 if I were to try to get a headless host for my stuff (qubes-like but I like pain)?

Thanks! I'm torn between my current and as a minimal headless host I can host (paravirtualized?) VMs on, like a desktop, old Windows and perhaps trying different archs.

I wish managers would realize that's cheaper in the long run to rewrite a legacy application from scratch than it is to keep patching and fixing it for short-term results.

Everybody always says to stick to because of "support" meaning there are OS images for it

I gather that each has a unique set of modems and gpus for which a custom build of Android must be used, but Windows systems come in millions of configurations and they just load drivers on the fly

It’s kinda sad to see people think I’m ’bribed’ by Meta.. I have not signed anything, I did not attend anything from them nor did I accept anything but still the worst is assumed when I don’t agree on blocking a still in development project that we don’t even know the (domain)name from right away

I don’t have any love for Meta or any of such companies whatsoever, that’s why I’m putting all I have in these platforms and guard it with my life so don’t expect Meta to get a ‘free pass’ on anything

The exists as the antithesis to centralised networks. Which is why, IMHO, it is absolutely not needed to welcome . Fox, henhouse and stuff. If they want to implement some sort of gateway using — let them build it. But we are under no obligation to help them. Or discuss with them under NDA. Simple. They are not friends or allies. They will extend, embrace, extinguish what we have under the disguise of cooperation should you help them.

Me too, but signal's like whatsapp, telegram etc, whereas mattermost is like slack, teams and alike.
I'm trying to split them into two categories but can only come up with "messaging apps" either way... 🤔

Humans are assholes, especially when behind a keyboard. I've known that since 56K internet, /ignore and move on.

I like the concept of bringing the web back to simplicity and gemini seems promising but, as you've expertly pointed out, it needs work. It's not even v1.0 yet... maybe it'll improve. I hope so.

Even then it won't fly for the masses, but I'll be more inclined to start a pod, it's on my ever growing to-do list.
