    The new variant that has shown up in Israel and Denmark, has now been detected in Michigan; it's called BA.2.86 and has 35 mutations in the spike compared with XBB.1.5 (the newly updated vaccine booster target).
    Will be watching this one very closely in the days ahead.

    @pivoinebleue Yes thanks. Was like a mild flu. However it was my second time, and I definitely am left with some brain fog — sometimes have difficulty finding words. Not great but given all the long covid varieties, pretty minor. I’m just going with it@and assuming it will improve over time.

    @pivoinebleue Aw, thanks! The other thing it’s done, now that I think of it, is that since the first case a year ago, my immune system is not as strong as it was. Among other illnesses (none severe, thank goodness), I even had strep infection in June — which I haven’t had since my now middle-aged kids were in elementary school. Hopefully the coming year will be better!

But once I started learning about his reputation for stiffing workers during the construction of his Atlantic City casino, decades before the campaign, I stopped using that epithet and moved to a simpler one: that f*cker.

    Have read that another possibility in is that Wagner is working with Putin. Goal would be to give P a face-saving way of exiting and also the leverage to clean house and jail (or worse) “dissidents.” This would leave P in an even stronger position and the concept does not seem preposterous to me.
