Amazed how many self-taught free thinkers have concluded that the most oppressed person in the world is the world’s richest man who controls massive parts of our global infrastructure, and the powerful people from whom he must be protected at all costs are nonprofit journalists.

Isn't it interesting that every killing by every cop is just a single bad apple that should never be thought to spoil the bunch, while every protest by and on behalf of marginalized people must be flawlessly perfect, or all participants deserve the brutality the police exist to deliver to them?

People who say of Nazis “the way you deal with bad ideas is by defeating them in the marketplace of ideas” are offering assumptions that a) Nazi ideas have not already been defeated on the merits, and are still valid and worthy to consider; b) Nazis will promote their ideas in bloodless debate.

could have spent a full year spitballing how musk was going to kill Twitter and couldn’t have come up with anything close to the unbelievable dipshittery of “users can only read 600 tweets a day” like, what do they put in billionaire cocaine anyway

Many free speech absolutists seem not to realize that it’s not just defending people they like, like Nazis and religious weirdos. If they truly believe in free speech, they have to defend all sorts of unpalatable types, even schoolteachers and librarians and children they don’t like the look of.

Rufo: Hey media here's the smear
Media: 700 STORIES A DAY ABOUT THIS FOR SOME UNKNOWABLE REASON

Engaging in blatantly partisan fuckery to install a democratic senator in replacement of mitch mcconnell would be the most honest possible way to honor the legacy of mitch mcconnell. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/kentucky-governor-wont-commit-gop-appointment-mcconnell-steps-rcna103068

Want to write a version of Star Wars where Luke keeps insisting “Darth Vader has evil in him, I can feel it,” and then they cut to Vader force-choking an Ewok and he’s all “so much for the tolerant left” and then there’s a 64 hr news cycle about Luke’s tone & whether it’s appropriate to say “evil.”

When I look at the video of a clearly struggling Mitch McConnell, I think about how scary and difficult that must be, and how hard McConnell has worked throughout his life to ensure that the end of people's lives are as difficult and scary a struggle as they can possibly be made.

Biden: hold on there, jack, that's shady billiards

The same people who said Congress shouldn't deal with the insurrection b/c it should be up to the courts now say it shouldn't be up to the courts because the voters should choose, & if Republicans refuse to listen to the voters, they will say it should be up to the courts again.

Travis Ikeguchi, 27-year old superfan of supremacist right-wing media propaganda, murdered Laura Ann Carleton, 66-year old superfan of human beings in all their wonderful variety.

Perhaps you heard.

Also: I'm told we have a civility problem.

As I mentioned yesterday, my newsletter, The Reframe, is departing Substack. I want to say more about why.

It's in part over the most recent Nazi flap, but for me (and I suspect many creators) it's more about how we have learned to think about platforms.

The bribed Supreme Court is ruling on whether or not, for example, Joe Biden, is allowed to order the military to take, for instance, the Supreme Court, and to have them, for example, murdered.

You’d think this would be an easy one but actually it looks like it’s gonna be kind of close.

Sort of feel like the combination of “you must work productively if you want to be allowed live” and “technology will allow production without the expense of human labor” should be a bit of a giveaway as to capitalism’s murderous intentions.

Covid's great lesson was demonstrating that "patriots" who favor government with unshakeable support as long as it is harming people will also deploy impenetrable skepticism and violent opposition as soon as that government seems it might ask them to engage in even tiny acts of harm reduction.

Nikki Haley was asked what she thought caused the Civil War and she gave the Confederate answer—which is to be expected from a candidate seeking the nom of a white supremacist insurrectionist party.

She didn’t say the word “slavery,” but her answer contained it.

She’s pro.

JuliusGoat,
@JuliusGoat@mastodon.social avatar

We must realize the Republican project is the demolition of any hope of a modern pluralistic society.

Again, Haley has to give a pro-slavery answer to the causes of the Civil War, and she knows it. Her party wants a white supremacist candidate willing to overthrow democracy to deliver supremacy.
