What's that thing you're not good at writing? I do good, basic descriptions of places, but it's hard for me to spend much time really digging into the feel of a location. My characters, alternatively, are really well rounded.

@golgaloth I cannot do for myself what I readily do for others: scan from high-level and spot the obvious flaws. I have never been able to elevator-pitch that which is closest to my heart.

ultimately my sincere belief is that the current crop of D&D-killers are competing for an audience that doesn't exist that the designers sincerely believe can be won over from D&D (specifically 5e) by providing a game that's "D&D, but--"

The thing is, anyone who is actively seeking out a new system has fundamentally already played enough 5e to reject it

More or less mastered: "Boone" by Wendell Berry and "[It is abominable, unquenchable by touch]" by Diane Seuss.

I'm trying to complete a trio with "The Head-Spider" by Les Murray.

Right now my reflexive go-tos are Dan Thurot (Space-Biff), the Pauline Kael of boardgame writing, for written and 3 Minute Board Games for video because Jarrod and Stephanie's brisk, informative approach cuts right through what drives me crazy about so many YT reviewers.

But I'm open to suggestions. Who are your most read or watched these days?

I’m going to see Ultramagnetic MC’s in a venue with capacity of 400. What is your best biggest band : smallest venue ratio? My previous must have been a toss up between De La Soul in Exeter Lemon Grove (capacity 800) and Parliament/Funkadelic* in Paradiso Amsterdam (capacity 1500). @music

@slevelt @music I find arena/festival shows of any kind alienating and more hassle than they're worth, but that's me; i think 1500 seats is a good upper limit for any act

@RickiTarr Wasn't me. Artist one floor down. Newspaper in the '90s. Building a spec ad for a car dealership. Scanned in the slide provided by manufacturer. Sales rep wanted the image rotated to show rear profile of the truck. Whole department on edge of tears trying to explain why that wasn't possible. Because creative departments are full of magical elf children with machines that can do anything. It's not hard, you see.

ThriftBooks.com is a great website! I know I've said this before but I want to say it again. I've made many orders, and only today did I get a book that had a few pages missing.

It's late Tuesday night and I wrote them to ask what to do, and they wrote back within an hour and said no worries, they'll send me a new one, free of charge, I don't have to return the old one. Such nice folks!

This Mantis Warrior was created for a friendly contest on DakkaDakka, with the aim of showing what it means to be a Mantis Warrior.

Making use of many older bits, I re-posed this mini' to be springing from hiding, using a modified boltgun, plus added lots of saboteur elements (like mines and bombs)

The Mantis warrior chapter marking was freehand and I chose to represent their alternate colour scheme on the other shoulder pad.

This Spitfire model was originally built ~60 years ago by my teenaged Father, and stored in a box in the garage for most of that time.

It was not in a good state when I found it, so I fixed the broken bits, restored the paint-job and gave it a cloud base.
