Generative "music" for #genuary31 features the Langton's Ant from my "Grow a seed" #GenerativeArt continuously modifying a drum pattern sent as #MIDI notes to the Korg Volca Beats. The wobbly functions from another previous #genuary prompt control the pitch of arpeggiated tones synthesized using the #Processing Sound library which I never used before.

Perhaps a bit too chaotic for #jamuary

A coloured 10x16 grid of tiles is modified by a Langton ant. One row is highlighted and advances downwards each step. One tile colour is brighter than the others which determines the MIDI pattern to send to a Korg Volca Beats which emits percussion sounds. A white comet traces a curvy path to the right of the tile grid. An arpeggio of tones vary in pitch according to the movement of the comet.

My first foray into using shaders with #Processing

Vertex shader displaces the surface of a sphere. Fragment shader maps texture coordinates to colours.

A greenish pointy shape pulsates with yellow and blue grid lines that criss-cross its surface, while it rotates and tumbles. The surface smoothes to a sphere before becoming pointy again. The animation loops.

10 green blocks form a ring. The ring slowly rotates but the 3D orientations of each block implies that half the ring is rotating about an axis that is perpendicular to that which the other half of the ring is rotating around.

Points appear in the top left and gradually populate the whole image in an irreegular grid pattern. Lines grow between the points. Then coloured quadrilaterals fill in the spaces delineated by the lines. The process then reverses, with quadrilaterals, lines, and point retreating back into the top left corner.

Only half over, but participating in #genuary2024 has been an amazing investment. Don't tell anyone, but I'm several days ahead of schedule. There are 3-4 things already that I have been wanting to explore, some for years. This forced me to get into them, and it's going to open up a lot of possibilities over the next year or more.

Yellow hexagons grow and slide in from the bottom right corner of the image to form a regular tiling that moves to the top left. A blue dot in the center moves in a zig-zag path in the gaps between the hexagon tiles. Other hexagons pulse or rotate.

Genuary 8: Chaotic System

My take on the double Pendulum.
The math on Wikipedia gave me a headache, so I solved it with coil forces: the balls are connected with an invisible coil and one of the balls is connected to the upper middle with another coil.

The varying colors have varying coil constants. It takes a while for them to go out of phase but then they do it enthusiastically...

2 blue dots start moving under the forces of gravity and 2 coils connecting them and a fixed point. They start getting a rainbow tail that starts to move more and more diversely until it dissolves into complete chaos.
