music nerds: computer speaker opinions/help please.

I have only ever used shitty USB speakers and mid quality headphones. I would like to get a nicer speaker that does not blow out my music. I do not want one of these insane setups with a bunch of words I don't understand. I'm willing to get something more complicated than usb/audio jack but I would prefer not to. I just want acceptable quality for as cheap as possible. I probably won't ever get a cd or record player or anything to use it with
