I’m currently reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, and though I know it’ll make me cry, it’s such a beautiful thing. It’s a story about the characters and their lives, which is something I’m often drawn to more than an exciting plot.

Also, it’s incredibly long, but is maintaining my attention, so it must be good.

Just seen some NSFW content in my feed, which I don't really have a problem with, but I didn't recognise the poster and I don't specifically follow any NSFW tags.

Turns out they tag all of their audio porn with #SilentSunday, which is somewhat the opposite of that thread...

What newspaper/news channel is good or bad?
When #BBC joined #Mastodon recently, I saw much moralisation around it. Personally, I think BBC's journalism standards have dropped a lot, but this is true around the world as #SocialMedia puts pressure on media outlets to prize popularity & clickbait over real journalism. That said, no media is ever unbiased. I was a world news editor for a national paper for many years and had the pleasure to 1/3

I hope I'm not heading for some kind of low-key burnout.

Not from work pressure, that's all fine and going well. Just from the erosion of things I used to take for granted, that has left me in a position where I seldom get a significant break from being in this place, this room, this chair, for years at a stretch.

That, and the incessant rain, and staring down the barrel of a finite, enumerable number of years left in my life, is getting to me somewhat.

People think Welsh spelling is somehow weird and incomprehensible but in fact even I as a Welsh learner can have a pretty good chance of spelling a Welsh word correctly if I hear it pronounced clearly.

It actually makes a lot more sense than loads of English spelling! :baner:
