Cycling down a two-way street and it narrowed to one lane; an oncoming Porsche stopped to let me through. I was so confused until I remembered that this is the Netherlands.

On the left is a windmill, and on the right is a wind turbine.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Heard the most Dutch thing today:

Why would you wear a helmet cycling? You don’t wear one walking and cycling is as natural as walking.

If we could see CO₂ from fossil fuels…

Sometimes I doubt capitalism can solve climate change.

In 2020, only 3.6% of the world’s population lived outside their country of birth. This has already led to a lot of anti-migrant rhetoric and policies.

Imagine when 33% of humanity have to migrate.

And we haven't even mentioned the migration of animals, insects, and arachnids, and how that could lead to more deadly disease outbreaks and global pandemics.

My fear is that instead of spending money on CO₂ removal (), future people will spend it on adaptation and leave the most vulnerable to suffer, like we do now.

These are people who have profited the least from CO₂ emissions and paid the highest price.

"Streets are for people; they're not for cars. A person on a bicycle has as much right as a person in a motor vehicle."

I was interviewed for a story about bicycle infrastructure in Honolulu and I wore my @TheWarOnCars shirt.

If CO₂ removal () companies and researchers really cared about helping the industry scale, they would openly share their plans for measurement, reporting, and verification ().

The other thing they should share is how they navigate permitting for testing and deployment, whether it’s successful or not.

First day back in Paris.

Colleague’s daughter: “How’s your French?”

Me: “Worse than before.”

Her: “That’s not possible.”

🤦🏻‍♂️

Well, this confirms that if you still own fossil fuel stocks, you’re probably a terrible person.

Deniers, trolls, and conspiracy theorists are threatening and abusing meteorologists and scientists, accusing them of exaggerating, lying about, or even controlling the weather.

This is gonna be fun when solar geoengineering is deployed at scale.

Shocking: Delta Air Lines is being sued for misleading customers about its carbon neutrality claims because they're based on junk that do nothing to counteract climate change.

Had the great honor of meeting Billy Bragg today. His music helped shape my progressive views in my formative years. Hearing him say that climate is the most important issue of our day and protests are supposed to be disruptive was icing on the cake.

I’m confused by people who say planting trees for CO₂ removal () takes too much space and then advocate for bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) as a tech solution. Where is all that biomass being produced? 🧐
