"On one occasion, a handful of children, all about ages 5 to 8, were carried to the emergency room by their parents. All had single sniper shots to the head. These families were returning to their homes in Khan Yunis, about 2.5 miles away from the hospital, after Israeli tanks had withdrawn. But the snipers apparently stayed behind. None of these children survived."
A physicians account of an ongoing annihilation which allegedly shall be stopped by Biden - really?
Cognitive dissonance - being convinced of one's own high moral values and supporting crimes against humanity - doesn't begin in the individual mind but is interwoven in a complex web of identification and participation.
Most Israeli media report only scarcely and biased as occupiers about the situation of Palestinians in #Gaza and #WestBank. As Israelis accept this they are complicit, as they pretend not to know they can stay away from moral pains.
The death of 6 year old #Hind shows what is wrong about this as any war in a nutshell
The terms #Capitalism#Colonialism#Imperialism signify specific strategies whose reckless and violent execution is useful to a tiny minority but a catastrophe for most of people
In #Gaza this violence is performed for the whole world to see not only in the name of Israel but those states that support this war. Bow your head, obey, don't argue, or else ...
Settler colonialism thrives not at last because USA UK Germany support it to the bitter end
No to support #UNRWA as Germany has decided in the belief it could get redemption for murdering 6 Million Jews by helping Israel to let #Palestinians feel the wrath of revenge sums up to even more people killed and maimed out of the wrong identification of Israel with Jewishness as such
Let them die to make us feel better - Germany's twisted logic reminds one of Putin's Russia
The connection to South Africa is interesting especially because the Apartheid regime and Israel maintained very good relations e.g. supporting each other in nuclear arms armament.
They had a common ground in settler colonialism, so South Africa taking a stance against its former ally is of significant importance
Surely this escalation wouldn't need 20 years to develop, such time horizons are put up to alleviate the actual danger - the much faster aggravation of #climatechange than originally projected is a useful analogy.
Seen from the fatal end, the question of the guilt that led to a war between states is of subordinate importance regarding demands for reparations or new drawn borders.
As Nobel Price laureate she is to famous to be ignored more than 10 days after she initiated the collective protest of more than 1000 global artists, filmmakers, writers and culture workers against Germany's support to Israel's carnage in #Gaza.
So today this shameful critique was even reported on the main news of the important state radio #Deutschlandfunk.
German weapons exports to Israel are at a record high so
The paper explores how neuropsychology, social signalling and norms have been exploited to drive human behaviours which grow the economy, from consuming goods to having large families. The authors suggest that ancient drives to belong in a tribe or signal one’s status or attract a mate have been co-opted by marketing strategiesto create behaviours incompatible with a sustainable world.
What the Guardian misses out is the materialistic root of social behaviour - capital accumulation by appropriating surplus value in wage work as core principle of value production in #capitalism
That's why "behavioral economics" have replaced the neoclassical doctrine of Homo oeconomicus as more fitting to correct the shortcomings of neoliberal market economy
Influencing behaviour with social engineering instead of #systemchange for more #autonomy is an authoritarian ruse
Nobel winner joins push to boycott German cultural institutions over Gaza
Author Annie Ernaux, Palestinian poet and activist Mohammed El-Kurd and actress Indya Moore call on artists to strike against German institutions.
Didn't hear anything about this boycott call in German media, which in a way affirms the relevance of the accusation
While allegeldly fighting a neofascistic party that wants to reintroduce the right to citizenship based on blood heritage to get rid of Germans with a migrant and especially islamic family background German government supports a state that does something similar in declaring Jewishness a primary conditon for citizenship of Israel
If any of you have been following this "plagiarism" saga started as a witch hunt which was supposed to be localized to Black women like Dr. Claudine Gay, now Bill Ackman is threatening entire academic institutions and news organizations. Also Business Insider's parent company, Axel Springer SE, named after an actual Nazi (makes total sense that they are so concerned about antisemitism), owns Business Insider and Politico.
In the Sixties the Axel Springer publishing house and its tabloid Bild initiated a hate campaign against the leftist youth resulting in heavy street fights and at least one student killed
"Expropriate Springer!" was one of the main slogans of the German SDS protesting against the Vietnam war and West Germany's support for any US-aggression against the Global South
Axel Springer investing in #OpenAI is the youngest example of what journalistic independence is not about ...
The most disturbing thing about this genocide is not only that it is livestreamed, but that the evidence is mostly being posted by Israelis themselves:
To show such brutality without remorse not really making an effort to hide your trails seems to me like a highly developed technique to prove for all to see that you are untouchable, that impunity is kind of a birth right to you
It reminds me of very skilled ways to humiliate the other, to trigger the feeling of powerlessness like an elaborate form of torture generating maximal damage out of the already afflicted pain
Showing no empathy in a civlized world raises lots of questions
"This is the Gaza Strip. Each dot represents a damaged or destroyed structure, the vast majority of which are buildings. From the start of the war on Oct. 7 to Nov. 26, the date of the most recent data available, 37,379 structures were damaged."
This is more than the estimated number of Hamas fighters.
To eliminate them by roughly targeting any structure where they could be hiding actually means to destroy whole #Gaza.
The explicit war aim of destroying Hamas is a misnomer
Forget Taylor Swift - #Gaza journalists should be Time’s person of the year. This is Wael Al-Dahdouh. His wife, son, daughter, and grandson were killed by Israel and he continued reporting the next day. Here he is reporting after he was injured in an attack by Israel that killed two journalists working alongside him. Their names are Samer Abudaqa and Ramy Budair. #Palestine
Reporting from #Gaza is paid in blood especially by journalists working for #AlJazeera. Qatar, USA, Germany - all media are biassed
We would know a lot less of the horror happening if those media workers and video bloggers wouldn't risk their life producing visual impressions
Never before was a carnage called war visible in such graphic detail, partly driven by tech whose downside is Israel's AI-targetting resulting in so many deaths and destroyed buildings
Never underestimate the fact that HBS is a political foundation, that depends on Die #Grünen, who are part of a government that is a steadfast ally of USA and Israel, both of whom waging war against the people of #Gaza
HBS is well funded by state funds and other donors - 83 Mill. Euro 2022 - what might help to toe the line of Staatsraison even against better judgement - this is what #MashaGessen represents in looking at the plight of Palestinians without colonial eurocentric bias
It's heavy just to read this, so I can't imagine how it must be to actually work under these conditions fighting against a barrage of deadly impacts not at least endangering yourself
I'm thankful for humanitarian workers who tell all the world what they experienced. Palestinians often are not taken serious or even associdated with Hamas
Here in Germany the systematic ignorance is so blinding that you can be accused of antisemitism just for sharing this
As if Hamas massacre on 7.10 wasn't terrible enough German president Steinmeier in Kibbutz Be'eri said that Israeli children were beheaded by Hamas
Weeks ago relevant actors in media and politics have retracted from this claim, numerous fact checks came to the conclusion that the information is unsubstantiated
Did this escape the attention of Steinmeier and his staff or is it about doubling down to legitimate more killings?
#Germany stands out in Europe as the one country hostile to activists or artists that engage in solidarity with #Palestine. Even liberated spaces as Hambi - the squatted forest near the open pit mine Hambach - disinvited musicians out of ideological reasons
Supporting the killing and maiming in #Gaza in a ratio of about 1 Israeli victim to 20 Palestinians isn't really a great achievement of what's left of German leftists and will diminish this marginal group even further https://www.counterpunch.org/2023/11/24/ceasefire-tour-roundup/
Media workers die in unprecedented numbers in #Gaza. Whether this serves the purpose to silence the voices of Palestinian victims intentionally or not, needs not to be asked, it does
Look at this woman already announcing that it could be her last video, visibly shaken by the incoming fire - you know why stories like this are absent in German public television
Misery, anxiety and pain are universal and transcend all reasoning about who should die and who may live
Folkwang in Essen has a long history as one of the oldest museums in #Germany to display modern #arts. It found itself in the crosshairs of NS-regime which confiscated 1400 exhibits as "Entartete Kunst"
Taking a risk for the freedom of expression still seems too costly so they rather ban Black #art than confessing to #antiracism
Part of an exhibition devoted to #Afrofuturism was cancelled due to sympathies guest curator Anaïs Duplan has for the people of #Gaza
The idea of the campus as a stronghold of leftwing extremism and authoritarian censoriousness stands in stark contrast to what’s happening inside the classroom
The more people think by themselves, are open to questions that aren't easily answerable or not at all, are not prone to dichotomies that fuel aggressions on alleged enemies and give painful doubts more chances to evolve than easily accessible truths,
the less they fall prey to the strategy of divide et impera, that produces disposable market subjects.
That means suspecting left wing radicalism in people who act autonomously is not so far-fetched, and that's a good thing.
The #Canadian#mining company that controls a massive copper mine in #Panama says it has no plans to alter its operations despite widespread local #protests against the firm's mining contract that have escalated and turned #deadly.
@msquebanh
Tearing up the earth and extracting minerals is the dark shadow that falls on the transformation from fossil to renewable energy. Especially open pit #mining requests large areas of land inhabitated by indigenous people that then have to deal with toxic wastes in air and water, destruction of ecosystems and not at least administrative repression and expulsion. It's a form of green #colonialism, where people in the South pay the bill of decarbonizing the North
It's the sanitized language of unrestricted violence, of negating people that have no chance to free themselves from being caged and held in total dependence. This breeds desperate resistance for which the colonizer is partly responsible.
How shall the face of the oppressed living in all kinds of shortcommings look? Surely not as those White faces that smile from the screen when they tell you that Palestinians have deserved their destruction by their own deeds
