VICTORY! Ring has announced it will no longer facilitate warrantless police requests for footage to Ring’s users. This comes after years of sustained pressure from EFF and other civil liberties and privacy advocates. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/01/ring-announces-it-will-no-longer-facilitate-police-requests-footage-users

PLEASE SHARE: I need your help with nerd puns.

For the @eff 3rd Annual Defcon Benefit Poker Tournament, I am going to do decks of cards for the swag. So, the cards will have HTTP status codes on them.

Obviously 418 will be the Joker.

What are some other great ones? like, which card deserves to be 451?

Big thanks to @kendraserra for the suggestion to use HTTP error codes on a deck of cards!

Did you know Privacy Badger replaces embedded tweets, video/audio players, and comments sections with "click to activate" placeholders?

Although potentially useful, these "widgets" often track your browsing. The tracking happens regardless of whether you interact with the widget. If you see a widget, the widget sees you back.

Privacy Badger blocks the widgets to protect your privacy, and replaces them with placeholders to put you in control.

Privacy Badger 2023.10.31 has been released for all supported browsers.

The new version blocks embedded Tweets by default, replacing them with click-to-activate placeholders.

This opt-in approach to loading external but potentially desirable widgets protects privacy while giving you control over when the widgets get to load.

Privacy Badger 2023.9.12 has been released for all supported browsers!

The main new thing is improved link tracking protection ("link unwrapping") on Google sites.

With this update Privacy Badger removes tracking from links in Google Docs, Gmail, Google Maps, and Google Images results. Privacy Badger now also removes tracking from links added after scrolling through Google Search results.

I am so damn proud of the community for this. We raised more than $17,000 at the @eff tournament at @defcon! Thank you so much to @daddycocoaman, our wonderful MC, @deviantollam & @malwarejake for being our Celebrity Bounty guests (and bringing some awesome prizes for the ppl who knock them out!), and to my wonderful dad Mike for coaching and supporting new players all through the tournament.

And congrats to Matricii for the amazing win!

Fun story.

I'd gone to the EFF's Tech Trivia game because @cooperq was wearing a three piece tiger suit, and I was in fursuit, and I thought it'd be a fun photo together.

I sat down at a table with a bunch of friendly folks, many of whom were at their first .

We ended up getting 2nd place before donations ("bribes"), 1st place after. We decided to take a group photo together afterward.
