I think a lot about how

1. a lot of command line UIs are kind of bad
2. building better UIs is great
3. but taking the time to get comfortable with a bad UI has often really paid off for me
4. I'll often keep using an older tool with a worse UI because it's more stable, or more actively maintained, or has more features, or has more examples available, or my friends use it
5. it's still important to acknowledge that the UI is in fact bad even if I'm pretty comfortable with it now

Many people canceled their Openai subscriptions, or it is tough to monetize stuff created with generative AI, I guess, so Sama comes with a new plan to use all those GPUs. They are now going after OF models. WTF OpenAI? They are going to allow deepfake? This company is beyond evil 👿

is there a tool that lets you view the difference between 2 git branches side by side on the command line? kind of like this. I know there's git log --graph but I always find it hard to read.

(here it shows the commits that are only on each branch on the left/right, and then the shared commits are in the middle, the output is from a terrible script I just wrote at https://github.com/jvns/misc-git-tools/blob/main/git-log-branches.py)

I tried recording a talk for a conference and my timing was completely off. I had to spend 6 hours trimming down content without sacrificing the integrity of the subject. It's all good now. What a ride!

XP-Pen sent me their new Artist Pro 16 (Gen2): they were curious if I could get it to work under Gnu/Linux without their proprietary driver.

Result: after a long evening of trial and error, tweaking Digimend/X11/xsetwacom, almost everything works now. 🎉

Of course, the deal is that if it works, I have to document it like I did with the Artist 24 Pro. So expect it soon™.

Btw, this one will stay on my desk: I had a serious crush on it while testing: super low latency & low parallax. 😍

But you also know the person well (you follow them & they you & you interacted): ask if they want advice. If they don't explicitly say yes - it's still a no.
