@GottaLaff For some reason today I can't reply to posts from this morning, but just wanted you to know The Gothamist reported that the BIKE lane outside the courthouse in Manhattan was shut down. Were the Trump supporters in the bike lane?! 😆

It is really amazing to see the lengths in which journalists will go to not understand why people are upset and taking to the streets.

It clearly has to be extremists or state actors that are causing civil unrest in western society.

So many people have their heads in the sand to understand what's really going on.

Denial is a helluva drug!

fulanigirl,
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

@majorlinux Reminds me of the Vietnam war protests. We were all groomed by communists then. For this generation, the war against people in Gaza is their Vietnam.

fulanigirl,
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

@majorlinux Very sad. Also just the ongoing hypocrisy of who is allowed to speak and who isn't. American Neo-Nazi talking hate? Yes, come to our campus. Students protesting war crimes and genocide...no that's disruptive and threatening.

If you are in or around NYC on April 24th (Wed) Interrupting Criminalization is screening their film ONE MILLION EXPERIMENTS which is about defining safety and how to create it without use of the police. I saw a preview of it and it is very inspiring, Check it out if you can:

So the mighty judge balked. Kicked the can down the road. FAIL

fulanigirl,
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

@popcornreel That is not what that means. It means he will render his decisions after thinking about the arguments made and fashioning an appropriate order. That's what judges do.

fulanigirl,
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

@popcornreel If the judge issued an order from the bench wouldn't that mean he had already made up his mind before the arguments were made? If so, he would open himself to an appeal that the hearing was a sham. Merchan is surely aware of Trump's ongoing behavior but the hearing was today and Blanche's performance was seriously bad. Wait until he issues an order before you condemn him as a fail.

It's extremely strange to me, as someone who was born during the Vietnam war, that once again we've got the military (militarized police) starting to encircle college and university campuses because students haven't been fully indoctrinated yet and think it's a bad idea to wipe a country off the map with high explosives.

The lack of generational memory is just astonishing to me.

fulanigirl, (edited )
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

@chriswho As someone who as a high school student did support for college students taking over Columbia University back then, I would like to say I am astonished at the failure to learn that lesson, but all I can really say is I'm terribly disappointed with these college presidents. They are just shills for mega donors. Education be damned, its what the donor wants that counts. Ed: added a missed word.

These people would bring back slavery if you gave them an opening

fulanigirl, (edited )
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

@carnage4life They are already bringing back slavery....just doing it piece by piece: no breaks from heat, no eating lunch, no right to prevent someone from forcing you to have a baby (forced creation of human assets)...how many pieces need to be in place before people realize its not a future hypothetical. It's now.

I posted two previous panel discussions on Alternatives to Policing that were happening in Detroit. The third one is April 17th and focuses on community groups and what actions they are taking to help create safety. I'm attaching the flyer for the program. I've posted Sona Jobarteh before but I got a chance to see her live on Sunday. What a fabulous show! Posting a duet with my 2nd favorite kora player, Ballake Sissoko. Also Sona started a school to help decolonize education in the Gambia. She talked about it at length during the show. The second link is on the school and what she is trying to accomplish.

I was watching our partial eclipse yesterday with my daughter in a local area. There's a row of food shops, cleaners, credit union and nail salons where we were sitting. The employees were getting permission to come outside and see the eclipse but of course none of them had any eye protection. We signaled for them to come over and share ours. In about 10 minutes we were surrounded by workers from four different ethnic groups. 1/5

The series is called: A Brief History of the Future. The host of the show presents the idea that we have moved into being a society that just plans for today without thought to the consequences our actions today will have on our future families. He sets off to talk to people around the world who are trying to envision the world they want for their great grandchildren and then talking steps TODAY to help build it. 3/5

fulanigirl,
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

You can stream the series if you are a PBS contributor or just wait for it to air in your area. He and the activists he interviews share a common thought. You have to envision the world you want and then build it. That’s what my daughter and I were doing. We envision a world where people treat each other as humans no matter what they look like or where they come from. That is the goal. 4/5

fulanigirl,
@fulanigirl@blacktwitter.io avatar

We want a world where people are free from the Prison Industrial complex (including a corrupted criminal legal system), from predatory capitalism and free to live in safe wholesome communities where our future families can thrive. Everywhere people are trying to envision what that might look like and to take steps TODAY to help make that reality come into fruition. We are envisioning a new world so that we can help build it. 5/5
