@GottaLaff Isn’t it kind of adorable that apparently there are people who think Our Divine Mastodon Goddess of Multi-Channel News and Court Reporting and Analysis (while casually moving the fam to Canada as a side hustle) would fail to make the distinction between DMs and posts?
@KimberlyN@GottaLaff@Wileymiller …and we’re REALLY good at reading posts and linked articles thoroughly, understanding “via” references, and not asking dumb questions, right Laffy? (Too soon?) 😂
@Whiskeyomega Start the day herbal, then a matcha to kick the workday off, sencha gets me through the a.m., darjeeling early afternoon, spicy chai late afternoon, chamomile before bed.
I'm talking/thinking/listening about Sadness today. Sometimes, I think it's necessary to think about these things, it's a part of life and unavoidable. At the same time, I want to talk about my Sadness Checklist if you're in it deep right now. These are the things I force myself to consider when I'm feeling down, overwhelmed, or anxious:
Did you drink enough water? Yep, I know, but it's legitimately important, not drinking enough water can effect your mood and how tired you are.
Did you eat, if so did you eat well? Same as above, sounds silly, sure, but making sure you're fed properly changes how you feel. Eat some fruits and vegetables ffs, M&M's are not food.
Get out of bed, get dressed. Just do it, you know why.
Did I do something active today? Take a walk, get outside, get out of your environment for awhile.
Am I putting something off that's causing me anxiety? Don't think, just do it.
Am I focusing on something I know brings me down? Turn off the news, tell the needy people in your life you're busy, do something or be around people that are energizing.
Are you tired? Did you stay up too late anger typing on the internet? GO TAKE A NAP!
@RickiTarr Great list, thanks. Do not underestimate the basics. At the risk of going full cliché: Focus on some form of gratitude. Works best if you’ve already practiced in happier times.
Last night I shared two posts. The first was positive (Fred Rogers) & the second was abysmal (normalized gun violence).
On #Twitter, I suspect the latter would have garnered far more attention bc a race for publicly visible RTs, likes & follows favors promoting shock & outrage.
But here on #Mastodon, Mister Rogers wisdom was shared more widely.
This isn’t a scientific analysis but a mere observation reinforcing that social media will be what we make it. And I like this neighborhood.
