Modern #AI text generators create randomized output with no prior planning. They resist to be quality-checked by tools and processes established in the software industry.
Given this, the results are amazing. However, companies are selling the idea that these assistants will do quality checking themselves soon™.
This is mass delusion. But hey, the perks for managers/investors are worthwhile 🤷.
Measuring correctness is very hard, so any percentage, especially a high one, needs context:
What problems do you pose to the #AI?
How is the accuracy of the answer measured?
How is reproducibility of the measurement ensured? (Also over small modifications of the training data or code? I.e. regression tests?)
Right now, I can be sure that my hammer hits the nail, unless my aim is off or the hammerhead was already loose. AI tools don't have that property and maybe never will. @TheServitor
@marcel@TheServitor correctness is a little wonky to talk about, because the comparison isn’t direct. in engineering, we assume that 100% correctness isn’t achievable, if you haven’t found bugs, you just haven’t used it long enough. but with a program, every time you find a bug and fix it, you’re permanently closer to correct, whereas with an LLM, each inference is a new case. all you can do is optimize the entire model. so LLM correctness is statistically extremely difficult

Tenacity @tenacity lists support for #macOS, but all the download links point to release lists that only mention Windows and Linux (however, the release notes mention macOS progress). Same is true for the installation instructions. I am too stupid to find the Mac packages?
Could you include that information with the upcoming release notes (because "Download Win+Linux+Mac" links there) and the README in the git as well as the "Installation" documentation (this is where I was looking for information next, and others probably will as well)?
I don't know how a judge can feel good after sentencing a 77 year old theoretical physicist to the penal colony. Especially, if what apparently counts as treason is the vetted(!) publication of research papers.
(He is the second in a series of four similar cases; where the first one "testified" to shorten his own sentence.)
It looks like #Academia should be intimidated, to silence the remaining critical voices. #HumanRights#Russia#Treason https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russian-hypersonics-expert-jailed-14-years-treason-2024-05-21/
On related news: Jack #Dorsey is no longer with #BlueSky. Instead, he's lauding the "freedom" of #Twitter (and apparently no longer believed in "building a social network that puts people in control of their experience", from the subtext of the BlueSky announcement stating the requirements for Dorsey's replacement).
