@kubikpixel https://www.keycdn.com/ hatte ich mal verwendet, ist aber schon sicher 5 Jahre her. Hat gut funktioniert. Kommt aber halt immer drauf an, was man will und benötigt. Alternative wäre ein VarnishCache, falls es nur um Caching geht.

Nachdem ich neulich bei Strato HiDrive feststellen musste, dass File-locking für Office-Dokumente (wie es beim Synology-NAS oder lokal mit macOS funktioniert) nicht vorhanden ist – mit geht das auch nicht. WTF.

Kriege die Lockdateien von Office inzwischen gesynced, der Schutz vor mehrmaligem Öffnen greift leider dennoch nicht. Bin so was von gepestet gerade. :blobcatgoogly: 😠

@kubikpixel @dde @keepassxc Könnte mir vorstellen, dass das damit zu tun hat, dass der Fokus unter anderem auf Android lag. Klickt man auf der KeePassXC Website auf Download, werden keine Smartphone-Apps erwähnt. Während KeePass Drittanbieter Apps fürs Smartphone aufzählt. Quasi ein leichtes Dokumentations-/Marketing-Problem von KeePassXC (in den FAQ werden Apps erwähnt, soweit kommt man möglicherweise aber nicht, falls man Software vor aussortiert).

Gibt es hier im Fediverse eigentlich auch eine Finanz-Bubble? Also Personen, welche übers Investieren berichten (ETF, Aktien, Fonds etc). Habe mich die letzten paar Wochen wieder vermehrt damit beschäftigt und es ist eigentlich ein spannendes Thema, auch wenn ich nur einen Bruchteil davon verstehe. Gefühlt ist das Thema mehr in anderen sozialen Medien wie Reddit, Podcasts, Instagram oder in darauf spezialisierten Foren präsent. Aber vielleicht klicke ich hier auf die falschen Hashtags.

Zufälle gibt's, deshalb lohnt es sich zu fragen: Wohnt in meiner Timeline (und darüber hinaus) zufällig jemand in (Schweiz) und sucht eine Mitbewohnerin oder hat eine kleine preiswerte Wohnung zu vergeben? Meine Partnerin sucht aufgrund eines Vollzeitstudiums in Neuchatel eine Bleibe für zwei Jahre. Bisschen erschwerend kommt hinzu, dass sie nach Möglichkeit gerne zwei ältere Hauskatzen mitnehmen möchte 🙂

@alper @mattburgess iMessage is automatically "compatible" with every other smartphone because of autofallback to SMS/MMS. So I can't imagine that the EU would want to force anything here. Or am I missing something? 🤔

Darf ich vorstellen: Eine und im Wasser! 🌱

Vorteile: kein Übergiessen, kein Ungeziefer. Nachteil: Gefahr von Algen (bisher aber noch kein Problem, seit ca. einem Jahr so). Die Alocasia war anfangs in normaler Erde, ging uns dann aber kaputt. Vor einem Jahr haben wir das Überbleibsel der Wurzel ins Wasser gelegt. Krass, wie schnell die wächst.

I’ve been playing around with NextCloud as an alternative to my Google Drive storage. I’ve chosen Hetzner’s Storage Share, which is essentially managed hosting for NextClould.

Does anyone have any suggestions how to back up you NextCloud/Storage Share data to a third party provider? I’m aware they have their own snapshots, but I want some insurance policy in case of account suspension, bankruptcy, or even just me wishing to migrate to a different provider.

If I was self hosting I could just rclone to S3 or something like that, but Hetzner don’t offer ssh access to these, and self hosting seems a lot more expensive.

Any advice welcome!

Hard to say

A cheaper alternative to SBB might benefit consumers. But would the presence of some other firm break the Swiss “Takt” that makes rail there good and reliable? Those are the questions.

That Flix is private, or that it suffers delays in 🇩🇪 don’t matter imho.

@jon @aburgerabz At a high price: the loss of the overall tariff system. If I buy a ticket to Zurich at the station, I can board any train, whether S, Regio or ICE, all for the same price. I am skeptical as to whether we really want to risk such a simple system.

    @caiocgo I would also ask myself whether you really want to make Nextcloud public on the Internet. One zero-day vulnerability and all data is potentially gone. I would therefore throw Tailscale into the room (or any other VPN solution).

    I've taken out a VPS from Ionos (formerly 1and1). It has 1 vCore, 1 GB RAM, 10GB SSD, unlimited traffic, root access, and a choice of distros, including Debian, Ubuntu & CentOS. Plesk is also offered free, but, I've not used it.

    All for the ridiculously cheap price of £1 (£1.20 incl. VAT) per month. At this price it would be rude not to test it, which is what I'm doing.

    The spec is limited, but, I can think of hundreds of uses at this price point.

    @fitheach In the settings you can define how many preview images should be processed in parallel. On less powerful servers, it sometimes helps to set this to 1.
