A recommendation if you have : , an interwoven slice-of-life documentary focused on five regulars at a fringe/alt nightclub in Chengdu, Sichaun, China. It's not groundbreaking as such but it is a good view of people who feel very much like familiar figures in a (to me in the US) different space -- and there's a remarkable use of the Fashion Rocks performance of "Life on Mars" by and towards the end. https://mubi.com/en/us/films/the-last-year-of-darkness

Meantime on an individually brighter side: mentioned here last week that I'd sent in a couple pitches hanging fire, one of which had been accepted. Got confirmation the second has too, and it's the best kind of doozy for a venue I've never written for before. Lesson: actually SEND your pitches.

And now just to selfishly say that the Xmas gift I got of two full sets of new LL Bean flannel bedsheets and new pillows to go with have made every night feel like a totally snug comfort zone to the point I really don’t know how the hell I keep being able to get up in the morning.

I saw some comments here and there about how Threads was somehow becoming better but per IG the last two recommended posts from Threads on there were vicious anti-trans shit so I think I’m good without it, thanks! (Obv no place is perfect but choosing to lead with that is, how you say, suboptimal.)
