polarity

@polarity@social.bitwig.community

I've been making #music for as long as I can remember. How successful everyone can define for themselves, but I still have a lot of fun exploring sound worlds. With my #tutorials on youtube I try to bring people closer to #bitwig and inspire them. I also often post modular #ambient experiments in small videos here and on #instagram. Making music doesn't have to be complicated, it should be fun and stimulate new ideas. #berlin #fhain #musicproduction

Every Mastodon account has an RSS feed that can be found by going to the user's Mastodon page and adding ".rss" to the URL of that page.

this is me with music atm. When im home, i want to go out in the sun, out in the sun i get ideas i want to do at home. The trick (for me) is to let it pass. To say to yourself, yes, I could do that, but I'm not going to do it now and that's okay.

I don't really get the collective level on the debate.

Isn't the strength of the protocol that centralized decisions are not needed, people can make decisions individually, try to coordinate them on their server, and devs can implement some decisions in code on their services like Mastodon?

The protocol is already used by some quite toxic right wing platforms and that is probably often annoying but also not more annoying than bots signing up at open instances?

@polarity@social.bitwig.community avatar

@b3n i dont get it either, if you dont like whats posted there, just block the instance. no?

I think this is true for other fields too, like music production and design:

"I realized that much of the internet's technical content, including tutorials and articles, is bullshit, even from senior developers and tech leads. People in high positions may lack programming knowledge, yet their authority is often unquestioned, which is a fundamental problem."

This page will show you how to turn a $199.95 pair of Sennheiser HD 555 headphones into a pair of Sennheiser HD 595‘s that cost $349.95. And all you need is a screwdriver.

the only physical difference was an additional piece of foam inside the cheaper HD555 headphones, So to save yourself $150, open your HD 555’s up and remove the foam. Done.

Okay, so after a week of Diablo 4 I can say that I regret the €99 purchase and wish I could refund. One of the most boring (in a "not fun or in any way engaging" way) games I've ever played, and a clear downgrade from its predecessors (which I enjoyed) in every category but graphics.

I'm never going to see the seasonal content because there's no way I'm going to torture myself through the entirety of that absolute borefest of a campaign.

polarity,
@polarity@social.bitwig.community avatar

@hmans sadly this is what a modern audience wants: visually stunning and grindy. I realise this more and more how I’m not the target audience of modern games anymore. People just just want to unlock stuff and move on. Like checking off task list items.

For 30 years, has been the 'future', always almost here, yet tethered by battery life, haptic feedback, and physical space constraints and bulky gear. Apple polished the solved, at a premium price , but the core issues linger

Making mobile music is a romantic idea that goes down very well as advertising. but no one has ever produced a cool song in the blazing sun on a shiny little display. I really have no idea where this unconditional desire to make music on the go comes from.

polarity,
@polarity@social.bitwig.community avatar

@tailsy firstly, that was not my claim :D so please dont twist it. If youre at home with a laptop in a quiet and focused environment, you can get work done. also laptops have usually bigger displays with mouse support and outboard gear like midi keyboards.

im talking about sitting in the park in the sun, while people are around, without a desk. or in the bus or train.

polarity,
@polarity@social.bitwig.community avatar

@tailsy "whenever inspiration strikes" inspiration strikes when you are sitting at home in front of the computer or your gear and have previously relaxed in the park "without" gear or your smartphone.

always wanting to create is a stress factor and, in my opinion, nonsense.
