polarity

@polarity@social.bitwig.community

I've been making #music for as long as I can remember. How successful everyone can define for themselves, but I still have a lot of fun exploring sound worlds. With my #tutorials on youtube I try to bring people closer to #bitwig and inspire them. I also often post modular #ambient experiments in small videos here and on #instagram. Making music doesn't have to be complicated, it should be fun and stimulate new ideas. #berlin #fhain #musicproduction

If you're not into a lot of work but want the maximum sound, today I'll show you how, with just a few tweaks and free plugins, you can create awesome '90s vibe pad sounds for atmospherics.

One of the tracks I made for 2024. It all came together within an hour. I took a bit more time for the mixdown. The recordings are from Berlin, Lichtenberg. I think the bleak apartment buildings and the industrial vibe really add something special to the track.

The project for will also be available here soon for Premium subscribers.

Because I keep reading that creativity supposedly comes out of nowhere and that you just "make up" stuff. Here's the new font for Berlin. It also includes research on everything that influenced the new font. You gather data, like a or and combine the best elements into something new. This is how creativity works. You imitate, you remix and combine.

Being active on Twitter means supporting the right-wing agenda. Right-wing trolling doesn't work without the left taking the bait. That's the engine behind political social media platforms. That's why right-wing sites like Parler, Gab, or Truth Social don't take off. There aren't any lefties there jumping through hoops, angrily reposting headlines and nonsense, confirming they've struck a nerve.

    The solution to the problem is ancient: "Don't feed the trolls." But since nobody ever follows it, trolls have now made their way into real politics. We should ignore, block, and delete nonsensical content, rather than dignifying it with public outrage. No clue when that'll finally sink in.

    But my worry is that many on the left actually enjoy being baited and want to be baited. Finally, they feel like they're fighting for something on a front line. Reactions, clicks, views. Something's happening. They're doing something, even if it's counterproductive. But reassuring each other that they're rejecting nonsense feels good. Surely, that's not the case for everyone.

    Am I the only one feeling like there's a big shift happening in art, music, movies, and gaming? It's like we're moving towards more underground, indie, and smaller platforms. Big Social Media is crumbling, people are flocking back to forums or tiny networks.

    Nobody's into Spotify, Facebook, Hollywood, and triple-A games anymore. A lot of hit games come from small studios, like Palworld or Helldivers, and music is often bought from Bandcamp artists' websites. Hollywood's losing its grip, while small studios like A24 are on the rise. I think it's great.

    @kevin @defaultmediatransmitter Oh yeah, that could totally be because I'm in a bubble. But hey, even my mom's ranting about how there's only trash on Netflix these days, and she's super mainstream, lol.

    In the video, I use the free plugin PaulXStretch 23 times. In each instance, I've recorded one note and a unique sound from the Korg Triton. Each instance also has a different recording length, different panning and stretches the sample differently. It's always great to see and hear how you can create soundscapes with such simple workflows.

    Just snagged a new DenonSC Live console. Used to spin real vinyl years ago, but ended up selling it all. Now, I'm diving back in, and honestly, it's a blast without the hassle of lugging around records and dealing with turntables. Been playing around with some mixes in the evenings. Decided to record a little DnB mix I'm into. Check it out and enjoy!
