In textile factories, meat plants & roofing companies, immigrant children work in clear violation of the law, & few folks seem that concerned, especially at the Attorney General’s office.

Same scene occurs with better ending in The Expanse when Miller cock-blocks the blooming romance between Dresden (who feeds humans to the alien "protomolecule" to accelerate its evolution) and the resistance leaders -- James Holden and Fred Johnson -- who are entranced by Dresden's elevator pitch. My own perception of insurance was formed as a plaintiff's lawyer in LA.

Plaintiffs lawyers want big insurance policies so that recoveries can be adequate to satisfy plaintiff's injuries and attorneys fees.

Defense lawyers want insurance policies, in any amount of coverage, so they can bill hourly fees for putting plaintiffs through the wringer.

Insurance carriers justify skinflint settlement policies because it's their duty to pay only legitimate claims.
