According to the Economic Policy Institute, which is tracking the trend, 12 states have enacted laws in the last three years that roll back safety rules and regulations on hours and working conditions for workers under age 18. Arkansas allows employers to hire 14- and 15-year-olds without having to verify their ages or report their job conditions. Iowa permits children as young as 14 to work in industrial laundries and roofing and demolition jobs — occupations that federal law considers too hazardous for anyone younger than 18. Florida is among several states allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to work between 11 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. and for more than eight hours — even when they have school the next day.

got a for her MYT article revealing how child labor laws are being flouted in, among other states, Alabama.

In textile factories, meat plants & roofing companies, immigrant children work in clear violation of the law, & few folks seem that concerned, especially at the Attorney General’s office.

Marshall, it seems, is more preoccupied with what’s happening in the Big Apple than who’s working for Fruit of the Loom.

Rs exploit children:

We have a horrific problem. Violations have⬆️>250% since 2017. Children have died in shocking circumstances: unjamming a blocked sawmill in WI, sucked into a poultry machine in MS... -result of an intentional starving of labor LE.

MO bill would loosen child labor law by removing work permit reqs.

LA's lawmakers are trying repeal a law requiring employers to provide a 20-minute meal break to any minor who works >5 hrs...

3:30 P.M. Picking nuts in dirty basement. The dirtiest imaginable children were pawing over the nuts, eating lunch on the table, etc. Mother had a cold, blew her nose frequently (without washing hands) and the dirty handkerchief reposed comfortably on the table and close to the nuts and nut meats. The father picks now. "No work to do at any business." (Has a cobbler's shop in the room.) They said the children didn't pick near. (Probably a temporary respite.) See 2685. Dangerous work. Charlie McBride. Said twelve years old. This twelve year old boy has a steady job with the Miller & Vidor Lumber Company. He takes slabs out of a chute which has a moving endless chain to carry the wood up the chute. He passes the slabs onto the other boy who saws them on an unguarded circular saw. Charlie runs the saw himself whenever he gets the chance. He is exposed not only to the above danger, but to the weather - no roof even. Has been here for some months. "Get four bits a day." Fifty cents. Works ten hours. This was the only mill that I found around Beaumont that employed boys, likely because they are located some distance out of town. Location: Beaumont, Texas.

🗣️ IF YOU WERE LAID OFF RECENTLY, PLEASE GO CLAIM YOUR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS

do y'all know why these fascistas are trying to bring back ? to force families to indenture their children if they want any kind of social services; IF THEY OFFER ANY AT ALL.

most likely, it's to do away with food stamps, benefits, section 8 and housing grants; ALL THE WHILE POCKETING THAT MONEY.
