Hard cider fermented fully and tastes like it's at the right alcohol level; now, needs back sweetening, priming, bottling, pasteurization.

@ai6yr i love hard cider! i've never tried making it myself tho, we have a few great local cider houses and some liquor stores that sell a few faves from the pac NW (Schilling!)

"The U.S. Department of Justice-including the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, an appointed U.S. special counsel and the solicitor general, all of whom were involved in different ways in the criminal prosecutions underlying these cases and are opposing Mr. Trump’s constitutional and statutory claims — can petition the other seven justices to require Justices Alito and Thomas to recuse themselves not as a matter of grace but as a matter of law."

@bouriquet @seachanger yup. corruption throughout both parties, at every level.

i keep saying it. no matter who wins in Nov., IMO, this country is done. we let the organizers of an insurrection, & sellouts of NatSec go unpunished. corruption of SCOTUS & the pres wont even discuss court expansion. (racist) gerrymandering in many states, also proected by SCOTUS.

2 parties beholden to donors & corporate interests, one is openly fascist, w no viable alternative

there's no US democracy anymore.

As someone who has a very general idea of how US politics works — does this conviction prevent Trump from running for the president in the upcoming election?

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@travisfw @grishka @uriel a person has to be born on US territory and be older than 34.

insurrectionists also cannot run, but SCOTUS has saved him from that problem bc they are corrupt

Here’s an excellent article about important lawsuits just filed on behalf of Uvalde families who lost loved ones to a mass shooting there. The families, represented by the same attorney who represented the Sandy Hook families, are suing Daniel Defense, the maker of the AR-15 used by the shooter, as well as the publisher of Call of Duty video games and Meta. (I am quoted in the story.) https://wapo.st/3R1Y9LA

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@heidilifeldman thanks for explaining the CoD aspect so clearly.
im not a believer in the idea that a violent video game makes people commit violence.

however, marketing is another thing entirely. a& wow. theyre going pretty far to encourage kids to buy an AR15.

i will add, for ppl that think that CoD is age restricted, when i went to their website it says it's for everyone. if there are age verications, i'd guess a person just enters their age into the website. which, LOL

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@heidilifeldman yes, that is what my comment says - that videogames do not makes kids biolent, but as i said "marketing is another thing entirely"

anyway, sorry you misread it.

Your reminder:

Reality Winner was held for over a year before being given a 5 year 3 month sentence under the Espionage Act for transmitting one report

Kendra Kingsbury’s case was similar to Trump’s initial transgressions, though less egregious. She received four years

Lawyer David McBride received 5 years 8 months for sharing classified material

Trump is free to threaten any judge and jury he pleases.

This system is a sick joke.

my favorite basic black is Nilgiri Orange Pekoe and it's only $4.75 for 100 grams (3.5oz)

upton has some really amazing teas. it's really all i drink, and i spend about $80 on tea every six months.

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@acwhite @StillIRise1963 when the votes of Black voters no longer count in many states because SCOTUS has become totally corrupt,

the ONLY thing i want to hear from our DOJ is about the investigations they are doing into those who have corrupted our government at the highest levels.

while corporate monopolies must be broken up, this is a whistle they are blowing to get ppl like you to think they are doing Very Important Work while our country is actually collapsing in on itself

rustoleumlove,

@acwhite @StillIRise1963 ok, you make a fair point. it is all connected, indeed.

I love participating in the age old ritual of flashing your lights to let people know a traffic cop is sitting in wait. Makes me feel part of something.😂

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@StillIRise1963 do you use the Waze driving app? you can warn other drivers and get warnings about speed traps on your route with that app

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@StillIRise1963 totally get that. i love the flashing the lights thing too BTW.

this reminds me of something i experienced when i was road-tripping in south africa -- there are lots of single lane highways there, and people really respect other drivers, so if someone is coming up from behind and fast, they will pull over to the shoulder to let that faster person pass.
when the person does the passing, they flash their hazards to say 'thanks'

@dougfir @ai6yr there could also be a world where youre prepared to drive cross country with people & dogs bc you have a car, but you also have a bike for short trips.

i dont expect everyone who has been accustomed their entire lives to driving; whose whole world is car-centric, to suddenly stop.

but hopefully people know we have to start finding other solutions besides just 'let's find another type of car to have as a personal vehicle for literally any trip'

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@ai6yr @dougfir absolutely.
but in fairness, i live in chicago & still routinely ride 10+miles one way, in bad traffic
there'll be challenges, & ppl will have to commit to dealing w them if things are ever going to change ( i know you are, Ben!)

i dont expect such lifestyle chnages to be easy for anyone, & it'll be impossible for many bc of their locale, habits, health (i'm chronically ill), the size of their family & their kids ages, etc.

but were hurtling towards a REAL bad outcome

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@ai6yr @dougfir and if you're me, you are increasingly distressed about the action we have taken on climate.

for example, i just read a study by U Mich that says sure, the inflation reduction act wants to electrify all cars and soon.. but there is nowhere near enough copper to supply all that demand.

"shifting to electric cars is not the answer," i scream into the wind, as americans rush to buy massive trucks.
.. here we are, stuck in an abysmal reality.

“It shouldn’t take this amount of money to get justice.”

From yesterday: Daniel Villegas was acquitted of a crime for which he served nearly 20 years in prison. James Montoya, one of the prosecutors who tried to keep him locked up, is running for district attorney. https://www.texasobserver.org/el-paso-da-race-wrongful-conviction/

rustoleumlove,
@rustoleumlove@mastodon.online avatar

@TexasObserver whenever anyone is exonerated, the prosecution that did it digs their heels in & wont admit there was any wrongdoing.
kinda feels like these prosecutors should be penalized for ensuring these folks got wrongfully convicted in the first place (by doing stuff like withholding evidence).

..yet, i never hear of disciplinary action from a state bar or anywhere else. the DA just goes on TV & says 'it was a good conviction' then runs for office.

how can anyone think we have 'justice'
