I've been reliably informed Ticketmaster are taking the data breach very seriously.

From tomorrow they're adding a $14.50 "information and network security fee” per ticket to all purchases.

These AI SEO spam operations have used lists of common searches to ensure that their pages come up first in searches in the “long fat tail” the kind of search where it used to be about 50/50 if you’d find a page addressing your needs. But, it used to be if you found something like “The top 15 smallest ants in the world” it wouldn’t be nonsense. It’d either exist and be the work of another person who cared OR you found nothing. Not so now! I can’t possibly over-stress how bad this is! 1/

Ryan Cooper at the American Prospect sums things up bluntly with but fairly:

“Biden makes some timid requests for Israeli forces to cool it a little bit; Netanyahu spits in his face, blows up another hospital, and then demands more free weapons.”

Perhaps it’s important to say, for those of you not in the same loop I’m in, that my friends & colleagues in Israel are in the streets demonstrating against the war and the corrupt Netanyahu government every day. The families of the hostages are also out in the streets demanding new elections. Every death - Palestinian and Israeli - is heartbreaking.

And for anyone thinking that trump is going to be a great friend to Israel, he’s not. Netanyahu and trump are bit from the same cloth. Both are dangerous.

The reasons the US unequivocally supports Israel have nothing to do with the safety and well being of the Israeli people. Or the American people, really. Or Jewish people in general. And certainly not the Palestinians who suffer because of it. It is almost entirely to do with imperial power projection in the region, racism, and religious mania. The difference between the parties on Israel is which rationale dominates their thinking.

Today's historic #photo of the day: Melbourne SW6 class #tram no 918 running a city-bound route 64 trip heads north along a near-deserted St Kilda Road, Melbourne, Vic, Sunday, May 4 1986.

The Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board built 120 of these SW6 class trams between 1939 and 1951; a remarkably long duration for a model to remain in production. It's even longer if you include the almost identical W6s (which followed the SW6s); a further 30 of them were built until 1955.

The biggest problem that Queensland has is its Brisbane-centric centralisation of business.

The 50c public transport fare isn’t going to make a massive change to the underlying problem.

If you are a citizen of a European Union country, you can vote in the EU elections, even if you live outside the EU. You can use any EU country polling facilities (I haven't tested it).

In Australia, Poland is opening polling booths in Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Perth on Sunday, June 9th, 7am-9pm.

You need to register by June 4th:

Hello from New York City. I’ve just spent three days in London, and my overall impression was that everything’s really cheap in London, but very expensive here in New York. Surprising, I thought it would be the other way round.

Took a photo of Wall Street stock exchange, knowing I’ll need one in the future. Found a big and impressive bit of architecture (the Oculus, which is part transit station, part shopping mall). Had an excellent few tacos.
