Has anyone found a decent alternative to codecov yet? I basically just want to show llvm's coverage output over time, nothing too fancy.

Also I want the upload to never ever fail.

Static websites are decentralized:

  • Anyone can link to them without needing to do anything special
  • Anyone can read them with common tools
  • Nobody has to create an account
  • They’re a static chunk of files. You can always pick them up and move them if you have a disagreement with your hosting provider.

"Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

The computer, however, will stop you from recording DRM'd content.

Find it fascinating that when faced with drawing safety and security boundaries, the primary beneficiary is not the owner of the device, or the person using it, but random corporations who control the intellectual property rights.

The system doesn't work for you.

We really don’t make enough of the fact that you don’t need JS to make a nice website. Just HTML and CSS

And, whatever most programmers say about them, HTML and CSS are absolutely much more accessible to learn than JS ever has been or will be

Do not confuse welfare with Universal Basic Income. If you get $1k in welfare does it make sense to take a $1k job, lose your welfare and end up with the same $1k? No.

If you get $1k UBI, does it make sense to take a $1k job and end up with $2k? Yes.

This is why so many pilots show increases in work.

If you don't use Bing with Edge, Microsoft will tell you your computer needs repairing.

They are not wrong.

To mend your machine:

  1. Ditch Windows
  2. Install Plasma
  3. Your computer is ready.

"GNOME Wayland sucks because I have to decorate my own windows which is out of the scope for my project."

Just... Don't? :confused_dog: If GNOME doesn't want to have a fallback for server-side decorations, then the intended functionality of the desktop is to just not have window decorations for your app. If people open bug reports about it, close them and direct them to the GNOME issue tracker. I don't get why this is considered a stopper for so many developers targeting Wayland. Just don't have them, I don't get it. :neocat_what:

Why does my IdP have two entirely different flows for MFA auth depending on how you're hitting it

User freedom is obviously the most important aspect of free software but the economic cost of staring at wire dumps to figure out a transaction flow instead of just being able to read the implementation should not be understated

Killing the bourgeoisie will not help achieve communism. Resorting to executing the rich only perpetuates a cycle of violence and hinders the possibility of creating a truly just and equitable society. Instead, the focus should be on systemic change and addressing economic inequalities instead of targeting specific groups for destruction.

Rust is clearly superior to go based on the most obviously objective scientific measure: the number of blog posts about how strings work. Nobody writes blog posts about strings in go, pathetic, but a vast literature has been developed to explain the greatness of rust strings.

Say what you want, but there’s something immediately obvious about aqua-style controls. They stand out. You can see what’s interactive and what’s not in an instant. You can see what’s expected from you

Compare to modern flat design, where you have to look very closely just to understand what’s what and which parts you are supposed to touch

That’s not progress

Modern flat UI

It is so fucking insidious how Facebook in particular has tricked business owners into thinking a Facebook page or Instagram is a proper substitution for an actual website. There is a crochet designer I love, but she is ONLY on Meta products, which means I CANNOT SEE YOU BECAUSE I DO NOT GO THERE.

Fucking leaving money on the damned table because you refuse to make an actual site.

Bad business, that.

the trend to log all chat messages in (server-side, no less) message logs is honestly terrifying

i really want to see the opposite, where we embrace ephemerality, i want to be free to chat with my friends without having to think of everything i say potentially being logged forever

yes, i know, you can never guarantee someone isn't logging, but i choose to trust my friends
