Feel free to mute me, unfollow, or block me if the way I conduct myself on here is not to your taste. I welcome gentle correction if I'm behaving in a way that's hurtful or inconsiderate, but I don't tolerate rudeness or requests that I alter my behavior just because someone doesn't like how often they see my posts. There are plenty of people who are annoying and you can just...ignore them.
@KydiaMusic UR SO ANNOYING OMG #JohnMastodon has bequeathed us the mute button. it is not your fault if someone else can't sort out its usage. i am majorly bugged by all manner of things and john sends them to file 13 for me. there are hundreds of people who are known to piss me off, so muted, and legions who i don't know about yet.
unless it's personal, in which case i block or report. and that was personal. just saying.

I'm sorry someone felt a need to say that to you. I don't get it a lot, even tho I know I'm annoying as hell, and I'm willing to bet it's because I'm a man. Men love to tell women they're annoying but they don't do that to other men. Just another wonder of misogyny.
I don't find you annoying, but also as a fellow Musical Artiste, I understand the self-promotion aspect of some of our posts on here.
I don't think this was necessarily misogyny (pretty sure the commenter was not a man) but rather someone who doesn't like that I retoot my own toots. Some people just don't appreciate having to see my toots more than once; especially if they don't follow a lot of people and are on-line more than most, but still expect constant variety on their TL. 🙄
@KydiaMusic lol yeah, the people who follow like 75 people here yet spend all day online are nuts... I follow almost 2k, and I rarely even notice if people repost their stuff. Hell, I need them to, or often I won't see it!
EXACTLY! I follow a lot of people, a lot of people follow me #humblebrag (lol, not really, but it's a lot to me) and most people are just dipping in here and there throughout the day. If someone boosts their own post, it's because they want more people to see it. They're not doing it specifically to annoy the people who already saw it. Just keep scrollin', chief. It's a big world if you let it be.
@aetataureate Oh it's only been one person in this particular case; a mutual* follow which makes it worse b/c I see my mutual follows as "Fedi Friends," unlike random drive-by rude reply guy types. Most people on here are lovely but this is the 1st time someone who's been a mutual follow for awhile demanded I alter my behavior because it annoyed them.
It does make me afraid that I am annoying lots of people, and only one was brazen enough to confront me.
@aetataureate I do use the dootstoots hashtag, but they were specifically complaining that I was re-tooting myself. They were participating in the Doots March Madness, they just didn't appreciate that I was boosting the polls at various times of the day so more people would see them.
Ooh, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't work when someone boosts themselves. I hide boosts from several people, and I still see when they retoot themselves; presumably b/c I do want to see their toots. That's probably the logic behind the way the programming works, anyway. Which makes sense, in case you missed the post earlier (which is exactly why I boost myself--no algorithm means if you're not online at the right time, you'll miss my Very Important Doots Toots :breathe: ).
