If that’s actually the case (that it’s a very low price) I wonder if the goal is to “sell” it to multiple overeager people who want to rush in and grab it, only to board up windows, so to speak, when the check clears.

After reading the news about an 'entertainment universe' I decided to delete my Epic Games account as I felt so physically uncomfortable. It feels wrong and scummy, thankfully the cure is relatively easy to administer as that account deletion is in process.
I only got slightly tripped up in the process as they sent an email code instead of letting me use my Authenticator code.
@hk I honestly bought one game there, regretted it and bought that same game on Steam. So, when the inevitable happened; I'd still have access to that game. I didn't want to inflate their accounts number with my digital presence, so deleting made sense in my instance.
However, you're doing fine as your approach is reasonable.
